Apple iPhone 4 proximity sensor issues

Every single time, if the call last more than 5 minutes, the fate is a hang up, or calling my voicemail or calling someone else. I am soooooo pissed off
I just upgraded to 4.0.2 — a supposed fix for this problem. The screen remains black when I take it away from my cheek. This means I can’t access the keyboard so I can’t enter codes or make my way through the maze of automated switchboards. The only way I can get the screen to open again is to press the power button — which ends the call! I can live with the other problems, but this is nonsense! Apple’s silence on this issue is unforgivable.
Well done sir!
It’s not AT&T’s fault after all.
My talented face hangs up on every call, or if I am using the keypad for some automated system, my face starts pressing buttons at random.
Nice job Apple. I guess you guys decided to call off field testing after a certain screw up.
Oh, how I hate this prox. issue. It’s really messing up my calls. I’ve been on a call talking about someone, only to have the phone connect to the person I was talking about. Lets just say we’re no longer friends. lmao.
It’s a software issue they won’t replace an iPhone cuz of that apple has said it will be fixed next firmware
apple is a shitty company for decades their anti microsoft campaign was designed to hide it.
Apple have spent too much time on “i” and not enough time on “phone”.
i didnt know it had a proximity sensor
I am having the same problem. Hangs up or mutes nearly every call now. They really dopped the ball on this one. I have nearly thrown it out my car window about 20 times because of this.
@Rstraderftw I found a great poll of 425 votes and it appears you have a slightly better than 50% chance of getting a good iPhone 4 in Australia. Google “Whirlpool iPhone Proximity Sensor unreliable” to find it. I am onto my 4th iPhone 4 and i still have the proximity sensor issue. I have gone back and forth from 3gs to 4, but after looking at the retina display for a few days it was hard to go back to 3gs, even with the many dropped calls. Are you more concerned with aesthetics or function?
If you know how to use a phone then there is no “issue”. I’ve never had a problem with my iPhone 4.
i like how the phone is a dick
exactly what we need
lol its like an annoying little kid.
This has happened to me all too often. On a call once and gave half a speech on mute -.-
I think its a software issue
So the iPhone 4 has a more sensitive proximity sensor… so what?
@ExtremeFireRisk I think the answer is obvious, look at the comments. Your face activates the loudspeaker on most calls, which is really frustrating. It may also activate other functions of the phone. Usually you’ll see the phone flashing out the corner of your eye. It’s quite poor in this respect, because you can’t have a conversation without stopping to deactivate the loudspeaker, or other functions that are now active. I hope that answers your question.
@ryan270286 Never happened to me.…
no, apple’s corolla.
no, apple’s corolla. the difference is, apple made a good corolla once. windows always sucked.
this issue drives me insane!!!! fix it bitches!
@atownakaatl its already fixed
I have not had this issue! (phew)
I have still the problems with iOS 4.2,. so the iphone 4 sucks !
@deanvandijk idk they made the “i” very well, I’m also never gonna buy an iphone but I will buy an ipod touch
i don’t have this “issue”
@HiL1KuS09 Iphone sucks.
Its nowhere near the best phone ever. Its good. Not great. And apple only spent 50 pence more than they did on the iphone 4 on the iphone 4 s
@zukifever It was actually design to sense any object from a short distance
People, all of you are saying android is the best but you guys probably have cheap ass androids with small screens
I’ve a samsung note II.
nobody cares because honestly i think you’d look like a idiot carrying that phone around, i have a Gs3 and a iphone 4s and the gs3 is better in some areas but i find s voice to be shitty as fuck compared to siri.
😉 thebestpageintheuniverse .ne t/c.c gi?u =iphone
that is a comparison of nokia and iphone, samsung<iphone
android < nokia (symbian & windows phone) < all rest < 80’s dumb cell phones < piece of shit < iphone
fixed.
you do know its also comparing the iPhone 3G Witch is over 4 years old… Right?
do you known this video is about iphone 4? which is a piece of crap that even a very simple sensor doesn’t work and also has a shitload of other problems? samsung doesn’t have any sensor problem.
the sensor works but it works a little closer to your ear which is good because the screen wont turn off when you have your finger a centimeter away like the older models, and you say there’s a shit load of other problems but don’t name them, what are they? And you cant say the antenna gate because that was fixed in early 2011. And its not even a sensor problem its a range difference which is good. And if you haven’t noticed SAMSUNG PHONES ARE GOOD BUT BUILT CHEAP!
yeah. I’ve noticed they are cheaper. they are because don’t have an apple tax on them. cheaper and better then that piece of crap. but try a little test. remove your iphone battery. then try the same on any samsung.
its actually quite easy to remove the battery on iphones, remove two bottom screws slide the cover off and there you go, samsungs back feels like its going to break when you pull it off.…
so you carry a screwdriver all the time? try removing it on a moving train. good luck really. I change batteries every day on my samsung. the back never feel off.
the back is made out of a plastic that is thin so bends easily there for it breaks easy and that’s why at&t offer free backs for the phones, and why would you need to take the battery out of a iphone ever anyways, if there is a problem and it freezes or something you can power it off as if your removing the battery by holding the power and home, and if your phone needs the battery pulled out everyday that’s a bad sign of quality.
my samsung back is made of metal. in fact the phone as fall of from a 2nd floor and still works perfectly. and changing battery is necessary only to increase the battery life. try to continuous playback video for 14hours on your iphone. good luck with that.
I never had to reset the phone due to freezes or crashes unlike your ipieceofcrap.
