Echo 1 Launched Communications Revolution
NASA,Echo,Anniversary
50 years ago, NASA launched its first communications satellite, Echo 1. Made from mylar polyester film and measuring about 100 feet across, the balloon-shaped spacecraft was designed as a passive communications reflector for transcontinental and intercontinental telephone, radio, and television signals. During orbit, a special recorded message from President Dwight Eisenhower was bounced off Echo 1 and picked up by radio operators across the nation.

I guess then it lasterd about 8 years, wow. At 100 feet across, must have been a site to see as it flew by in space every night.
Telstar put Echo 1 on a long vacation… and gave us the 1st #1 hit record by a British band!
Sputnik was better.
Sputnik was the Russian version of USA’s Echo

(“echo‑1 satellite balloon”) to see this foil-balloon launch in 1960 which stayed afloat for 8 years, reflecting all radio-waves from earth-stations !!! This was 60 years ago folks; with that success, the fakery of “Orbiting-Satellites” was born, to milk the public billions of dollars for non-existing satellites launched with non-existing rockets!!!!
Imagined if it poped
