NPP Team Holds Prelaunch News Conference

Live from Van­den­berg AFB in Calif., sci­en­tists and engi­neers answer ques­tions about the sched­uled Oct.28 launch of the Nation­al Polar-orbit­ing Oper­a­tional Envi­ron­men­tal Satel­lite Sys­tem Prepara­to­ry Project, or NPP. Data from NPP will enable the Nation­al Ocean­ic and Atmos­pher­ic Admin­is­tra­tion to con­tin­ue issu­ing accu­rate fore­casts and pro­vide advance warn­ing for severe weath­er. NPP also will extend crit­i­cal long-term data sets that advance Earth sys­tem sci­ence and appli­ca­tions sup­port­ed by NASA, NOAA, and oth­er U.S. agencies.
