The SpaceX Fal­con 9 rock­et was rolled to the com­pa­ny’s Space Launch Com­plex 40 at the Cape Canaver­al Air Force Sta­tion, Fla., on April 29. The rock­et then was lift­ed into place for a sta­t­ic fire test of the rock­et’s Mer­lin engines on April 30. Time lapse video also cap­tured the prepa­ra­tions for the launch rehearsal on April 29.
Dur­ing the test, SpaceX engi­neers ran through all count­down process­es as though it were launch day. The exer­cise end­ed with all nine engines fir­ing at full pow­er for two sec­onds. The test val­i­dat­ed sys­tems for the upcom­ing launch of Fal­con 9 on a demon­stra­tion mis­sion as part of NASA’s plan for pri­vate com­pa­nies to launch car­go safe­ly to the Inter­na­tion­al Space Station.
