This is a speed test featuring the newly released 13 inch MacBook Pro Retina. The 13″ MacBook Pro Retina features an Intel Core i5 processor with 2 cores @ 2.5GHz, 8GB of RAM, 128GB SSD & an incredible 2560-by-1600 native resolution at 227 ppi. The 13″ MacBook Pro Retina lacks the dedicated graphics featured in the 15″ MacBook Pro & 15″ MacBook Pro Retina. This speed test features both Geekbench & Cinebench (benchmark tools).

I went with the 13′ Pro with Retina but I am into photography which really pushed me towards the retina. That and the SSD Drive is light years ahead of the optical drive.
The only thing that is NOT upgradeable on the Retina is the SSD. Who cares though, I just bought a 2 TB external Hard Drive that will more than suffice my storage needs!
Actually, you can’t upgrade the RAM because it is soldered to the motherboard.
13″ pro retina has SSD which makes it super fast / better processor and ofc the retina.
Can you do a real world test on the macbook pro 13 inch retina instead of these benchmarks? like 50+ chrome tabs, youtube 1080p video playing, video editing, etc. all at the same time?
32 bit setting? wtf
Basically if you want a retina display MacBook buy a 15 inch, to pay this price without getting quad core or dedicated graphics is silly.
I was at the apple store,i was loking rMbp 13 side by side with the 2012 air, this thing just blows it away, also it is a lot faster then the regular Mbp 13
Go to the apples website and look what would be the price on the regular Mbp when you give it a 128gb ssd
4x the resolution
I am also in the same situation as Kingro619!
13″ pro could upgrade to SSD 128Gb and 8 Gb RAM .. which is equivalent and exact price of 13″ pro with retina Display … but don’t get me wrong … I know I won’t have retina, if I customize the regular 13″ pro, but without retina display, do i get more juice out of the CPU or not?????
Yeah, if you have the retina and pro compared with same processors and both have ssds, pro will be faster because the super sharp resolution takes performance away A LOT.
Thanks for the reply .…. You really gave me a hard time now to choose pro or retina .. I am really thinking about it now .….. the light weight of retina is enticing, but I also want a computer to be fast
When the retina takes some juice out of your processor, it does not effect how fast in use your computer works, it effects that, if you edit pictures, play games, edit videos so if money is not a problem choose pro model with best processor / two graphics cards it will cost a lot but it will be high tech stuff till 2016. Of course Retina is the best choose if you travel a lot and use it browsing all over the web.
can someone explain to me whats shared graphics mean (intel hd 4000)?
I want a mac soo bad but the thing is I probably won’t ever get it but watching videos like this makes me feel better.
is it good enough for video editing? thank you
Neither
should i get this one or the iMac 21.5 inch for video editing?
tbh, he should get the regular pro, you can get an anti-glare highres screen (1680x1050), you can have a larger non-ssd hard-drive AND you can upgrade the ram if you really need to on the Pro.
I want it!
this is the problem with UnBoxers who always buy whatever that comes out : they buy the weakest computer ( the one with the least power )
How does it handle minecraft and happy wheels
My 7 year old desktop plays happy wheels
Super!
it has a 64-bit architecture! you’ll get a better score if you change this option on geekbench!
i have one of these and am very happy with it. it is light enough to carry everyday but is still powerful enough for video editing and some light gaming. pretty much a the best of the macbook pro 13 and macbook air 13.
I’m so happy my parents are sending me this , I’m a freshman at Stanford and I need a new laptop . All I have is a thinkpad which I really hate using .
Here are some games I would get when you wanna game on your MacBook Pro . Surgeon simulator , happy wheels , minecraft , and sims 3
To me, it is. I program and need the extra screen real estate. Also, the Macbook Pro 13′ Retina IS actually upgradable. You can buy a special PCI based SSD and put that in. I’m not sure RAM is upgradable, but hey 8GB is more than enough. That’s my situation…
I wish you’d run the i7 processor with 8gb ram with the intel 4000
The i7 upgrade runs at 8700 on geekbench I looked it up on here lol
Still a PC though
Why do you use 32 bit processor architecture if the processor is 64 bit?
i get the same geekbench results on my standered 13 pro 2012
Trust me, it’s More than enough
This might be a stupid question, but it bothers nethertheless.
If you would turn down the retina display to a olower resolution, would that make the performance better?
