ok you’re wright but there is Google Search for iOS (search for the yt-video) which is very similar — not predictive though
I can’t haven’t had a Nexus device by now
I hope the Google Search App will display Map results in future updates
I want offline data
It needs access to iOS address book and Siri integration, dunno if Apple will ever allow it
It’s great to finally have it back on iOS, now we have the best of both worlds.
Google Android UI really has taken the game by storm, it is so much nice than iOS and in my opinion W‑phone
Probably one of the best “shake” gesture lead-ins I’ve ever seen. I wonder how many people it will get, when they’re frustrated and shaking their phone to actually have a useful “Feedback” option pop up on their screen, completely intuitive to their frustration.
Nice play, Google, nice play.
where is the google maps video that you were talking about?
Better? Not in a million years. They ship all their top apps to Android. Gmail for Android. Google Now. Local. All this beats any Google app on the iPhone, any day.
It is funny that Google gives Apple users what they so badly want…
Are android google maps vector or bitmap?
And just like that, everyone moves Apple maps into that folder full of crap that nobody uses.
people Google makes money from advertising not from Android so probably they just improved their cashflow in a much more significant way than they would if a lot of people changed to Android just for Google Maps (highly unlikely)
Damn the iPhone’s screen looks so small to me now…
Hey Dieter, you have just discovered a typical Google app, congratulations. Next step: try out some device not made by a fruit company, for a change.
What? I’m assuming you meant to reply to someone else, considering I never said anything about apple. Rather my comment was directed at Google’s intuitive (and possibly one of the best) shake gestures I’ve ever seen in a phone app. Notice how I said “phone” not “iPhone” or any specific other hardware manufacturer.
@jin37uk 🙂
Android maps will be update soon… Not to worried about the few extra features that the apple app got. Apple app is still missing offline mode which is important when traveling out of state/long distances due to dead zones and such..
Your telling me Android users have higher standards than iOS users?
Facehugging iphone Maps in the face!
Google is the King of Maps!!!!
It’s not better than its Android equivalent. This doesn’t seem to have cycling directions, and nor does it have offline maps. Google Map on Android rules!
oh thats why they crosslicensed their patents with HTC just a few weeks back, riiight
This is possibly more important than the return of the McRib.
Google Maps is far smoother on my iPhone 5 than my Nexus 4. It just looks better, too. Google has been making exceptionally clean looking apps for iOS, I’m sure they will carry some of the aesthetics over to Android. Maps, Gmail, and G+ on iOS are pretty amazing. I would say Chrome for iOS bests the Android version, but I still prefer Safari anyways.
That moment when the google maps looks better on iOS than android
Android been had Google map and it’s better then ios version
yeah it means that too , but ios maps suck and that is a fact
iOS Maps sucked, past tense. As in when it was in developer preview it was unusable. I use iOS Maps for GPS because it is the best GPS.
well u like ios , i dont ‚so there is really no point of having this discussion 🙂
why does it suck on Android??
It sucks on android because over 50% of users are using 2.3 or older versions of android.
nah ios always sucks , present simple 😀
I don’t see how apple map can catch up now… It’s the huge database of location and point of interest that makes google map so successful.
Why not? This is just showing, that Google is helping other platforms with better maps, then for example apple maps
I was talking in terms of functionality (offline maps, cycling directions), which is far better on the Android. I’m not sure I care much about how smooth it is, although I think this point can be disputed as well.
