I know this is unfinished software but the UI looks very laggy and choppy. The toch detection also needs a great deal of work.
Trying to be constructive here but why do opensource groups have the least imagination of anyone? Taking no risks, sticking strictly to existing ideas regardless of whether they’re good (eg the shop only showing icons with no actual info). Opensource should be the ones to LEAD in every aspect, especially UI. They’ve got no corporate pressure or any of the other reasons big companies are so dull. Yet they still do it. It’s depressing. At least the Ubuntu phone OS is trying some different ideas.
looks like a copy of android
exactly, same notification system too. I can’t wait till we see a new mobile OS that separates itself from the rest in overall UI
that my friend jgandroot (i am a sub to you already lol) is ubuntu for phones. i love linux…i use ubuntu on pretty much every PC i own as well.
I totally forgot about Ubuntu for Phones even though I was ready to make a video on it LOL. I never tried to install it because there was a rare risk of hard bricking my Nexus 4, so yeah… I want to try Ubuntu, I might install it on my desktop over the weekend.
Do you have to flash it from fastboot? i’ve flashed factory images from there at least 10 times on my galaxy nexus with not a single failure. also, i’m about to purchase a nexus 4 at the end of this week when money permits…then hopefully i’ll try to start up my own videos again. impossible to find time these days. trying out ubuntu should definitely be something i add to my video list. it’s worth dual booting your machine with though. feel free to inbox me if you need any tutorials.
a copy of android with bad working
A little bit too laggy for me…
Mozilla really have some problem with reading finger gestures.
What crap !! … focus on innovation, what is the point of reinventing the wheel? … I did not see a single feature which is innovative or different than Android or any other OS.
Ubuntu or BB10 came out with using the edges and stuff like that … this is utter crap from Mozilla!
Ubuntu and bb10 copied the use of the edges from Meego Harmattan running on the N9.. So there you go..
This is Not good.
Many of the comments irritate me; “Mozilla must fix this,” “Mozilla must fix that…”
Erm… Mozilla are not manufacturing or designing the hardware, but purely the platform on which the hardware hosts.
…and to others who say that it ‘lacks innovation’, the innovation is not supposed to be in the hardware, but in the platform — something that is based on web code, which means that the platform is not only efficient, but can also evolve as the web evolves; e.g. WebGL running UE3.
