If European Union and USA spent less money on wars and more to support ESA and NASA, man would have walked on the Mars 20 years ago, by now we would have the ability to probably travel to the edge of solar system and back within a month.

This is so cool!. So is the initial flight test at 3000miles going to be manned or unmanned?

You’ve entered into the hypothetical and theoretical. I’ll need evidence of such clandestine operations before investing thought into such mentally exhausting subject.

If what he said is true, don’t worry. The R‑complex is only strong in numbers. It will either kill us all or be overtaken by a mammalian foresight for the species. You can’t kill/control humans from deep space, they would soon lose interest. Deep space is for explorers, not killers. We will go or we will die, it’s part of a natural process. It’s something to hope for, not worry about.

What the hell is the technician doing at 38:27, the guy with the orange pneumatic hand drill ?!
It’s almost impossible to drill a clean & perpendicular hole from the angle he’s holding the drill.
On a critical item like the Orion, there is really no excuse not to go get something to stand on, it’ll only take a few minutes extra so set-up a comfortable posture.

The current timetable is still feasible, as far as I am aware, once they solve the problem of the huge radiation exposure risk, we could see man land around the middle of this century, if not earlier.

Why does it take sooo long? Is it financial? If there is ample funding, what advantage is there that would justify all the delay? certainly I can see the caution factor. Perhaps I am just impatient. Four yaers to go around the moon. We did that 40 years ago. Doesnt appear to be progress. Why doesnt anybody ever mention the ladder as a possible alternative. O.K. Mars so what? What will we do on Mars that will be different than what we do on the moon? The moon is a satelllite! Use it?! !

High trained technicians, of course you’re correct. But we are only human after all, even at NASA.
    — I think watching them working on Orion reminded me subconsciously of the Apollo capsule, & the sad Apollo 1 accident on the pad. Now that was a shoddy build !!, coupled with no risk assessment, a very sad case !
I still think though he was handling the hand drill at an awkward & uncontrollable angle, I would like to hope he didn’t actually drill any holes like that.

because we just dont know how our instruments and technology will behave beyond the earth-moon system everything has to be tested and when it is finally put together it has to work beyond any doubt…the moon experiments back in the day were pretty crude and dangerous

The agency is failing, they will never be able to become as big as they once were, even if the nation can get back on her feet and the government increases NASA’s budget, commercial space would have completely taken charge of space exploration and possibly even, helping us become a space faring civilization. In other words, Government space agencies are about finished
