Ford, Crew Mates Return Safely to Earth
[vid_tags]
Expedition 34 Commander Kevin Ford of NASA, Soyuz Commander Oleg Novitskiy and Russian Flight Engineer Evgeny Tarelkin landed safely in their Soyuz TMA-06M spacecraft on the steppe of Kazakhstan near the town of Arkalyk. They are shown being assisted into reclining chairs by Russian personnel and beginning their adaptation to gravity after they were extracted from their capsule.

cant wait to meet him!!
heh, it’s interesting to watch this because the gravity we take for granted must be a massive change to come back to.
damn those are good chopper pilots to land in that crap without an instrument aid.
Glad they made it home safe
Bring them down, put them on a chair, and just sittin and chillin
two of the helicopter pilots were totally badass!
Safe return indeed especially after 5 months in space!!
They look so happy all of the time 😀
That is a 3rd world welcome home if I’ve ever seen one. Yeah let’s put them in chairs out in the cold. I’d be asking to go back into space.
Why Kazakhstan
Cause Baikonur Cosmodrome was built in Kazakh SSR which after dissolution of USSR went to Kazakhstan.
Welcome to the Earth again.
return to the place where they departed
Congratulations to all three of you guys! Welcome home and well done. Cheers Gentlemen
Welcome home
You do realize that there is a difference between 10 days and 5 months in space?
After 5 months of being weightless you are not able to walk anymore since you lack all sense of equilibrium.
I really admire the professionalism of these guys, that they’re in such obvious pain after months of thin air and zero gravity and they still have a smile for us.
Because it is the most convenient and appropriate place for a touchdown from the 60’s. And all necessary spaceinfrastructure there.
Keep on exploring!
Cost. Simplicity is god, and failure to heed that will lay your death bed.
How I envy those guys, I would love to visit the station. It must be a letdown not to be able to fly around in near zero g when they get back home to earth.
great safe return 😉
The facts are well known and do not escalate the mystery, using the term Cold War which the West began(to the question of mentality). The death of the cosmonauts Soyuz: 24April 1967 Soyuz‑1 V. Komarov(first test flight, failure parachute landing system), and June 30, 1971 Soyuz 11 G.Dobrovolsky, V. Volkov, V. Patsayev (depressurization of the lander during landing). In all other cases, cosmonauts back alive, including the aborted rescue mission Soyuz-18, 5April 1975,astronauts V.Lazarev,O.Makarov.
You say that need stick to the facts. Where is your evidence to support concealing the death of cosmonauts in the USSR? There were failures of individual systems, was an incomplete implementation of the program, but was not hiding the fact of death. You about some rumors say? It’s like the stories that Americans were not on the moon.))
Would be nice if returning cosmo/ astronauts could land in Hawaii or Cancun for a change.
Many of the shuttle missions were shorter so they didn’t feel the effects of micro-gravity in the same way astronauts do on the ISS. Plus the shuttle proved to be far less efficient than originally planned. The shuttles were also unable to go to higher orbits which is why Orion is based on the rocket style.
Glad that they all are back safely and smiling , so good. very happy for them… All the best guys!!!
