The Skylab Legacy — Long Duration Space Flight
NASA Skylab
Skylab’s May 14, 1973 launch into low-Earth orbit was the nation’s first foray into significant scientific research in microgravity. The three Skylab crews proved humans could live and work effectively for long durations in space. This NASA video recounts the history of the program and showcases Skylab’s legacy as a major stepping stone to the successful construction and operation of the International Space Station and future long-duration human missions to asteroids, Mars and other destinations.

Did the Saturn V have the 3rd stage when that was launched
Every time I rewatch this video and see the massive open space Skylab had, I just get sad because the ISS just feels like a massive regression from Skylab in terms of being a habitat fit for humans. Obviously ISS is technology more advanced, but those claustrophobic corridors are just depressing to watch after knowing what came before
Hopefully the rise of SpaceX will enable humans to start making rapid progress in space construction, both with and without the aid of NASA
quem veio pelo corte ?
سکائی لیب پہلی خلائی لیباٹری تھی جسے امریکہ نے 1973 کو خلا میں بھیجا تھا ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔کیا یہ معلومات درست ہیں
Poor thing broke up, and fell to the earth in the land down under!
Have so much space than iss
“Humans and engineers and astronauts” 🤔
it’s amazing how much space they had to spin around inside there lol. it’s so trippy to see a space station with a volume of air that large inside
💬
😽
If they really landed on the room they had to land on beside of you because the Earth is not lit up by the son he right way the Earth is supposed to be lit up vertically not top half of the Earth be met by the sun vs the bottom it’s supposed up by the time zones pretty much
the presetners hiarcut though.…..is it a wig?
I don’t know what the engineers and astronauts would’ve done without the humans working alongside them.
I used to go to crippen and always used to pray skylabs house would win😭
Was this put on a DVD ?
no more than 30 seconds. just as much as you need when simulating weightlessness in a cargo plane

The walls of a spaceship are the walls of an airplane (C‑5 Galaxy | Lockheed Martin) converted into the walls of a spaceship. the width is the same as the plane, but not with Skylab.
look how much bigger skylab was when it was built than what we see.
because we didn’t fly into space before the shuttles! before the shuttles, there were cartoons, mockups, diagrams, rainbow faces with cigars, anything but real space — feel the difference.
The difference with the shuttle
Bro I thought apollo was retired💀🗿
Thanks for this and I remember when Skylab came back to Earth on Australia! 🚀
Skylab could have been a thing… But MIR was!!! Eat a D Americans!!! hhhhh.…
What is not to say Russia had the same! Duuh!!… Oh you have to rent rockets now from Russia to fly to your ISS.. Via Soys… Omg i hope nobody find out about that .. that you are totally bankrupt.….
It seems awfully crazy that there’s so much unused open space inside it ?
