Yet this generation of consoles basically have PC innards. You could theoretically put in faster internals while maintaining compatibility. Just like the way PCs work right now. So updating the SoC in 2 years while maintaining the same platform is quite feasible in this new generation.
Man U guys suck on commentary, I rather watch ign break this shit down.
26:07 troggdor !!!
we can debate all day but there’s no denying family friendly games has way bigger market share now than harcore gamers and every tech company is heading to augmented reality which is the future anyway. microsoft understands where is the most money is.
I think there would be some feature overlap if they did that, because of Kinect’s microphone.
While PC does offer the most powerful experience, this doesn’t make consoles stupid. For some people, gaming isn’t a large enough part of their lives to justify spending significantly more on a PC. I love gaming on both, for different reasons.
@Aaron Bryant
Yeah man. Games is the least I expect from a console these days. Would be like releasing a phone saying ‘it makes great calls’. Yeah no shot… But else can it do.
I admire Sony sticking with what it knows but I think Xbox will win again this gen. Sony is selling off assets left and right and the last thing it needs to do is go niche. They might get more gamers to buy it… But there’s way more non gamers and casuals out there that Xbox will appeal to
Guys there are people out there that can’t access these type of devices by using their arms. Voice recognition has gotten much better. It’s nothing like those call center voice systems. It’s mysterious and awkward because you haven’t spent much time doing it. Try it you may like it.
Have you ever heard of Rooster Teeth? lol.
Is Nilay a massive man or is Ross tiny?
If they could be self-upgraded, yes. But Microsoft and Sony aren’t going to allow that. That means spending hundreds of £/$/€ every 2 years for something only marginally better. I understand that that’s exactly the same as phones, but the mobile market develops much faster.
These guys are just talking in circles honestly,I’m unsubscribing from this Verge channel
Good riddance.
You must be new to Top Shelf.
2 months later.……
Microsoft: Hey, Everyone.. Now all of you know that Xbox has a x86 processor and a windows kernel… So, all your computer games will work on Xbox One?
Sony: (Someone fill this up)
exactly what u said. thanks to yt and apple for sending me rockin iphone 5 for taking their surveyz. And, make sure you tell the address and email properly to send the giftbox. i got it from here. you can also try it : bit.ly/18gfntJ?=edjwy
Actually psn hardware is in 1st place by cpu graphics card
I like you…
11:00 i got bored and started watching the people in the background.
Great show as always. The Verge’s video productions are very slick.
Releasing an updated console 2 years from now, with slightly improved hardware as ye said in the video, defeats the purpose of buying a console — If you want to have to update to the newest spec every now and again, you’d game on a PC
Love the video .…I love Kinect for Natural User Interface..!! Microsoft…bang that console…!! war..!!
@henhhmk yeah yeah we all know that! ALSO! ive been playing this game all week its worth a look -> bit.ly/13XNBim?=xyymm
I don’t care much for kinect, not now that the microphone and possibly the camera too is always on, tracks and reports too much info, tells you to identify anyone the camera picks up that it doesn’t know, and you need to have it plugged in for the console to function. I don’t want to plug it in, don’t want to stand in front of it waiving my arms around like a lunatic to operate the Xbox, i just want to sit on my couch, controller in hand and play GAMES, not TV just games. PS4 for my i think.
I’m STILL looking for this song. Downloadable. Complete. WANT…
clearly the hand waving is optional
The answer to the console problem is to build a PC.
A PC isn’t for everyone.
I think Nilay is great
Xbox on? Xbox one
its good that they are both going to be PCs in a pretty box but we are in a situation where intel have just released their haswell processors and nvidia have released their 700 series graphics cards and by the time the xbox and ps4 come out, nvidia will be 6 months from releasing their maxwell gpu architecture which will shit all over anything that has come before, meaning that the consoles will be old just as they are new, consoles must become upgradable, processor/gpu wise, to compete.
14 000 views??? wtf?
These guys, especially the host are so privileged middle class with their heads up their arses. You can tell they where socially awkward all the way into their early 20s until they developed this obnoxious attitude to mask their lack of identity and belonging. They even adopted an obsession with tech’ but more importantly consumerism to fill the void where their life purpose should have been developed.
Scoffing at a $500 console lasting eight years, plus the cost of all those games. Even if the consoles got as cheap as $200 and lasted two years, that’s still $100 a year plus games which is more than a lot of people want to spend on a tv based gaming platform. Not everyone lives in New York City, has a high paying job and rich parents with a holiday house. Before you say anything, I’m all of those things except living in New York, I just can’t stand people who don’t look passed their own noses.
I love the intro song to Top Shelf.
Is your life so full? I mean it seems like you spend your time going on youtube videos and posting mean comments. Maybe you should look at your own life? I don’t know that you have any purpose other than making everyone hate you.
Thank you for such a controlled rebuttal. The answer is I am at a level of philosophical understanding that makes me pleased with myself while displeased with society and I will not be fulfilled until I have a positive impact on the understanding of others. You are right to criticise the malice of my comment, it was not well thought out.
