Removing the Barriers to Deep Space Exploration

NASA,Beyond Earth,Gerstenmaier

Beyond Earth: Removing the Barriers to Deep Space Exploration is a presentation by NASA’s Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations Bill Gerstenmaier in which he convenes a panel discussion to consider the challenges facing the U.S. space exploration program. NASA’s future Orion crewed spacecraft and the Space Launch System which will carry it into orbit will provide the United States an entirely new human space exploration capability, a flexible system that can extend human presence beyond low-Earth orbit and enable new missions of exploration in our solar system. The NASA and prime contractors panelists were:

– William Gerstenmaier, associate administrator for human exploration and operations, NASA
— Julie Van Kleek, vice president, advanced space and launch programs, Aerojet Rocketdyne
— Charlie Precourt, vice president and general manager, ATK Space Launch Division
— John Elbon, vice president and general manager, Boeing Space Exploration
— Jim Crocker, vice president and general manager, civil space, Lockheed Martin Space Systems

You want to remove barriers to deep space exploration? Here’s a thought:
    Cancel Orion/SLS.

Orion/SLS is a giant pork barrel designed to bring cooperate welfare to the large aerospace companies. It will be so ridiculously expensive, that NASA won’t be able to afford flying this thing very often. I would not be the slightest bit surprised if a deep space Dragon/Falcon derivate (like the “Red Dragon” and a Falcon 9 Heavy) will be ready in a couple of years, for a fraction of a cost – and most importantly before Orion/SLS has completed more than two or three crewed missions.

The sooner you cancel Orion/SLS, the better. Otherwise that white elephant will bring down both human and robotic space exploration, just like the Shuttle/STS did in the seventies before it even flew, and then in the eighties after we lost Challenger and her crew. And it will be a barrier to crewed space flights like the STS was ten years ago after we lost Columbia and her crew, and then once more after the retirement of the STS not so long ago.

    Cancel Orion/SLS. Cancel it now.

NASA are going a bit too slow… how fast was the turn around for the Saturn V programs?? Our current technology is a hundred times better, why aren’t we going faster in development or manufacture????

49:58 The demands by congress are to sink billions of $s into Orion/SLS, and the demands by congress will likely defund the “extended Cassini mission” – using images by Cassini to promote Orion/SLS is just distasteful in my maybe not so humble opinion.

The question what’s the value of human space flight? You forgot to mention the importance of “Human Survival”. Our Sun is not going to last forever it throws out mass more than 3 times the size of Earth daily into space.

Also people on Earth want to adventure or tour space and settle on other planets like when early humans migrating and settling on different arrears on Earth.
Like Julie I grew up with REAL visionary American  SCI-FI books, comics, movies and TV  E.g: ” Lost in Space”, “Star Trek”, “The Jetsons”, “Star Wars” and  “Alien” The Film opening showing you how space is so HUGE, Vast, Mysterious and Alien.

NASA in the 1960’s with technology less than today’s cell phone (so I am told on YouTube) built an human spacecraft, a moon lander and take off vehicle and having people walking on and driving around on the moon surface in less than 10 years. And cannot forget that iconic image from Apollo 11 with its rocket shell ring falling back to the Blue planet Earth showing human worldly transition

People have stated NASA from the 1960’s till now after 50 years and especially into the 21 st century should be having people walking on Mars, a space terminal, human settlements, communication satellites far out into space checking out our Galaxy the Milky Way and other Suns and orbiting planets like ours

NASA Panel discussion comments .The amount of energy needed to lift tonnage into space and the problems of dumping expensive rockets back to Earth etc.

    ————————————————————————————————————–

“Removing the Barriers to Deep Space Exploration”

I would suggest space take offs in space and the building of space platforms or captured large rock real estate to allow future cost effectiveness in NASA future objectives of spacecraft’s multiple missions, refueling, storage and maintenance units.
This will remove the high expenses of ground Earth take offs and payloads delivery in space etc.

Using space rotation to produce free electricity like hydroelectric power. Platforms can lift payloads up from high flying adapted airplanes. Have an air suction pipe in Earth’s high atmosphere for oxygen and collecting water.
Astronauts and people can also be pulled up from cable lift cabins.

Platforms can be easily to put together in small section blocks and over time expand to create very large real estate and futuristic towns above Earth. Development can be handed over to the commercial sectors and also pave the way for new innovations e.g. Electrical  railway cars for transportation etc

Jim states: To visit a near habitual planet 12 light years away it will take 250,000 years because ground based spacecraft’s have to use up all there fuel for taking off from Earth gravity and then have to drift along to their destination like a thrown out “Milk Bottle” in to the sea to reach America from England (As Stanton Friedman on YouTube would put it).

Spacecraft launch from Space at a speed of Voyager 38600 m/ph would take roughly 36.5 years not 250,000 years by traveling at Helios 2  Space Probe speed at 150,000 miles per hour  and be roughly 4 x times quicker.

Having launches from space  has none of the high risk of spacecraft crashing to the ground from aborted take offs and the expensive separations rockets can be retrieved and made to be re used, time and time again,

    ————————————————————————————————————

    Spacecraft Take Offs in Space

    1: Economic and safer
    2: Faster deep space travel.
    3: Economic refueling
4: Provide large docking area and storage facilities
5: Provide multi missions without costly cancellations from bad weather
6: Provide units for repairs and maintenance
9: Provide large unit facilities for space research and development
10: Provide faster knowledge of unknown sciences
    11: No Earth’s re-entry cost
12: Provide research in human and animal living and survival in space.
    13: Provide space accommodation
14: Provide economic means to regularly maintain and rescue space satellites and other objects.
15: Provide astronauts  “To boldly go where no man has gone before”.
16: Provide large space area for agricultural farming for life support
17: Provide commercial space tourism and accommodation
18: Provide for super size human observational and astronomical telescopes.
19: Provide faster human knowledge of space, earth, other planets, suns, galaxies and mysterious objects in the universe.
20: Provide storage for large captured objects for research e.g. Meteorites, comets, asteroids and other large objects.
21: Provide big commercial companies to use of their earth assembly robots like in car plants for production of future space vehicles and other space technology along with future robot work force e.g: Japans Honda’s “ASIMO” and USA Boston Dynamics “PETMAN”

22: Question: Space contains Gas Clouds many light years wide can these Gases be captured by an adapted Space Craft for its own fuel and aide exploring the far deeper regions of outer space?

One major deception to the American public is that the capsule Orion is a deep space vehicle.  You don’t go on 20+ day (6 months one way to Mars) missions in a small capsule.  You must have a living service module.  Orion would just be re-entry vehicle.  Existing Dragon has better heat shield than Orion.  Also, we could have had 2 more capable vehicles (including Falcon XX) over SLS had not the senate required/mandated that SLS use Shuttle derived parts.  We keep killing real achievement for the few individuals greed, one look no further than people like Senator Richard Shelby who only cares about his campaign funding.

As I watch this I feel a twinge of sadness. Its been over forty years since the first manned moon landing and here they sit waffling about what is essentially Apollo 2.0. If humankind is to step away from the cradle of Earth then we’re going to need re-useable launch systems with a fast turn-around between flights measured in days between not months!

Don’t get me wrong, I very much like space exploration of all kinds.  I doubt we ever land on Mars as we don’t have the will to do it.  In fact, I really worry that space flight is about to end within the next 15 years or so.  They need that money to buy free food for people.  But I hope that space flight does not end.

since we are not even close to having speed of light space ships, we would have to use generational ships. generational ships are ships that take so long to get there that several generations of crew would live and die before the ship arrived at the destination. so this ship that takes 500 years to get to the destination is powered by what? what is going to power this ship for 500 years? the most advanced reactors on earth are the 2 reactors in the Gerald Ford CVN 78 class of aircraft carriers in the US. these reactors can operate continuously without refueling for 30 years. only 470 years shy, what do you do for the 470 years? the state of the art in power generation has not advanced since the 19th century. 19th century coal fired 1 GW, 21st century 1 GW nuclear. mean while energy use since the 19th century has sky rocketed an order of magnitude, or more. not going to happen. Star Trek will never ever happen.

Yes you had better remove the barrier of truth if you want to keep your lies orbiting in outer space, which you are doing through your Youtube yes-sir-three-bags-full-sir censorship slaves. Perhaps you should have also muzzled Michio Kaku who admitted you CANNOT send a rocket into outer space, you can only send it into orbit ( aka the space shuttle). Perhaps your barrier is Yahuah the creator Himself who you oppose with your lies and idolatry- do not wonder why plagues are coming upon you.
