New Mac Pro Performance Review!

my hack­in­tosh get’s about 20,000 on geek­bench. i7 4770k, 24GB ram, gtx 770

alright.. let’s recap here… Apple made a new pc that costs between € 3.048,99 and € 4.049,00. The per­for­mance is actu­al­ly almost as good as a nor­mal €600–700 pc! That is just awe­some! I mean, if you com­pare it to oth­er Apple com­put­ers, this is just a wow-fac­tor. So, if you put it all togeth­er, do you think this is a good deal? Hell no. Oh wait.. There is an Apple-logo on the com­put­er! Sure im pay­ing 4000$ for that! Oh please…

Indeed its great…BUT the mod­el you see costs around 5,500 to 6,000 USD and could be even more..!!!

What up Mar­ques, thanks for the vid. I just start­ed fol­low­ing you not too long ago, love the vids man keep it up. I looked to see if you had a FCPX review video but did­n’t see one. I heard in one of your videos you switched to FCPX from PP. Curi­ous if you’re stoked about that and what your thoughts are. I had yet anoth­er bad keyframe issue in PP that crashed the export and am think­ing of switch­ing to FCPX. I’m able to find the bad keyframe each time it just sucks, is time con­sum­ing and slows down my work­flow. Sor­ry for the long com­ment, hope it finds you well sir.

I bought one of these, and I was so dis­ap­point­ed with the per­for­mance, I assumed there was some­thing wrong with it. The Apple store gave me anoth­er to try. I was also very unhap­py with it. I was video edit­ing with Pre­miere Pro a mul­ti­cam project with three cam­eras, Pro Res LT 1080p and a cou­ple of audio sources. After about an hour into the project, the pro­gram mon­i­tor no longer was in sync with the mul­ti­cam win­dows mak­ing it impos­si­ble to edit. When I tried to colour cor­rect the footage it was very slow to show me a pre­view. The prob­lem, I believe, was the video cards because I returned the sec­ond Mac Pro and bought a Mac­Book Pro with an Nivi­da card. The Mac­Book Pro was able to do the same video edit­ing project with­out a prob­lem. There were a few of things I didn’t like about the Mac Pro that didn’t per­tain to per­for­mance. The pow­er but­ton is at the back, which is very incon­ve­nient, you have to reach around and feel around the cables and try to find it. There is only one audio port which is at the back so you have to unplug your mon­i­tors then try to find the hole to insert your head­phones. I did like how qui­et it was. I have an old Mac Pro it has served me well for many years but it is a bit slow. I use it now to burn projects to DVD or Blu-ray. Apple’s bread and but­ter used to be the graph­ic pros, now the iPhone is king and they have lost inter­est in us. Ger­ry in Calgary.
