The Glob­al Pre­cip­i­ta­tion Mea­sure­ment launched on Feb. 27, 2014 at 1:37 pm EST, from Tane­gashima Space Cen­ter in Japan on a mis­sion that will set a new stan­dard for pre­cip­i­ta­tion mea­sure­ments from space.
