If you’re device is running 4.3
It could be a bug
If you’re device is running below 4.3
It’s the android rewriting that’s making it slow
It happens when you’re device is a year old
With 4.3 it solves that problem
See if you’re device’s memory is almost full
Check applications if it had too much cache data in it clear it immediately
Check the applications you’ve installed
They might be eating up you’re RAM because it’s working in the background
Go to SETTING — APPLICATIONS -( RUNNING SERVICES )
STOP Force CLOSE DISABLE or Uninstall the applications that are eating the most RAM memory
Don’t forget to close applications in the first place
Not rooted:
1. Always clear Recent Apps
2. Avoid unnecessary apps running in background (for example, if you’re not using some google apps like google maps, then I suggest you disable them as they tend to automatically run in background even though you’re not really using the app.)
3. Avoid unnecessary apps that take up RAM like Live Wallpapers and Battery Savers (yes, Battery Savers. They are just profiles of settings for your phone and does not really save battery, they just lower brightness, shorten screen timeouts, etc.)
4. Clear RAM
5. You may want to change your launcher. Google’s default launcher is really heavy on RAM. (IDK if it’s the same with everyone but that’s how I do it and I gain positive results)
Rooted:
1. Always clear Recent Apps
2. Uninstall bloat software (Based on what I have understood, these are default system apps that are not very essential and just take up RAM like the ones mentioned above)
3. Use Greenify. (Not only does it hibernate apps and prevent them from running in background, this also saves battery life because of that method.)
4 & 5 same as above
restore your phone delete all photos videos and music and change the battery and flash stock android!!!
save your phones photos or files on cloud storage or in the sd card than do a complete wipe on your phone by going to the settimgs and find the backup or restore section and click on factory data reset
Hey William
Just delete all the apps that you only use ones. Specially the ones with a heavy MB’s on it.
You should also,
-Clear the cache from your apps and browser (but be CAREFULL, do not click CLEAR DATA)
-Move apps to SD card
-Delete your old text messeages
I really hope these steps helps you. Thanks ! 🙂
Jayce ur awesome hahahahaha
He can download an app called Clean Master it wipes unecessary files your phone stores plus acts as a virus protection.…i make sure i download it all the time i get a new phone i have the G2 and yes its a fast phone but it doesnt hurt using the app once in awhile
You can wipe the Phone or install custom ROM That resources less Memory
Greenify is a great app for freezing up apps you don’t use often. It is available for rooted and non-rooted devices.. If you can some money, you could “donate” and get to freeze useless system apps. That’s my answer/suggestion to your question, Joyce. 🙂
I wanna see this ‘Droid.
1. If you don’t have much data, factory reset it.
2. Download a good anti-virus.
3. Move apps from internal memory to SD card(if your phone has one) or delete rarely used apps.
4. ROOT YOUR DEVICE IF YOU STILL HAVEN’T. This will give you access to developer options and also you can change the processor settings and OVERCLOCK your device. (Take caution while doing this and follow a helpful forum.)
6.Update new downloads for your phone if available. Newer updates usually help.
7. Regularly delete the app caches.
You’re funny haha
You’re funny haha
Clean master is a good app to help speed up your phone.

Overclock with root
William, you should go to Task Manager in your phone and tap on ‘clear memory’. Many android phones lag due to shortage of ram or ram is being used up by apps/ background processes.Or you could install Clean Master which will clean your ram memory from your home screen!! I hope this helped.
Well I understand that his phone is getting slow so maybe Du Speeder or Clean Master 🙂
Greenify.….…clear your cache and dalvik in recovery.….….run vanilla android 😉
i use cleanmaster app from playstore to speed up my phone
Every year or so it’s recommended to do the the following steps:
1. make sure your apps are backed up with google play store,
or backup your phone with Titanium Backup.
2. make sure your contacts are backed up in your google account
or export them to your device external storage.
3. (optional) backup all your sms messages.
4. perform a factory reset. ( your sd card will NOT erase ).
5. if you backed up everything with your google account then google will automaticly restore your data, else install Titanium Backup and restore it.
6. restore your sms messages
gay british, stop being so premadona
hey jayce im just wondering can you transfer game progress from an ios device to an android device?
To start with, a Device may feel slower over time, because you may have tried newer Phones or seen them in videos. Your perception of “fast” adjusts. (You probably remember some years back, when your computer at that time felt so incedibly fast to you. If you would look back at it now, it would probably feel alot slower because you adjusted to the current speeds). Sadly I cannot currently find an article that discribes this effect but I hope it sounds reasonable to you.
The next thing could be that your Device may fill up with data, for example your contact list grows making the amount of data your Device has to load higher. The same goes with most other apps, you get larger background databases like historys, auto search caches and many other forms of data that analyse or work with the user. Plus you may get software updates that add to the amount of tasks or instructions a Device must run.

And especially own experience when it comes to my first statement.
Uninstall apps that you don’t use, disable apps from startup and use clean master app. that’s it
I´m looking for a new smartphone and I´m on a budget around 250$.
Can you tell me what´s the best option for me?
(I´m thinking of buying the samsung Galaxy S3, but I´m worried it is a little outdated..)
An older device that is running slow is usually due to TRIM is not enabled in the operating system level. TRIM is a constant maintenance needs to be done on solid state storage. If the device runs 4.3 and above, this will be enabled automatically (but may take a while until the full eMMC is processed if you just recently upgraded)
A full deep format can solve the problem, but it is not really available option for android, a simple root and a root app called LagFix (fstrim) will force TRIM to run once on the device. Do this on regular bases to keep the device running smooth.
Bottom line, consider TRIM like defragmentation you need to perform on regular bases on traditional hard drive
clean your cache
Use Clean Master For Android to Clean your junk files that are produced from your daily used apps. Still if it doesn’t Work enter recovery mode on your Android Device and wipe your cache partition and in the advanced menu you could wipe your Dalvik cache too! Which I should Suppose Will get your phone back up and running as smooth as butter!
*****, I would love an Android Authority T‑Shirt!
Hey Jayce! You should check out Unlatch! It’s a lockscreen that pays out immediately. Since, Locket doesn’t pay out anymore and slidejoy makes you wait!
As an answer to the question asked, this is my point of view: 2 solutions — you are probably about to run out of internal space. You better uninstall few apps or you backup your data and perform a factory reset…
Factory Resst.….….best option
This guy looks like Paul Scheer lol
mediatek and google… mmm i have to see that to believe it
go in developer mode and check the (dont keep activities in back ground) box
Nokia Refocus… #alreadybeendonegoogle
Just download Mastercleaner off the android market.
