I hope people come to understand just what kind of human achievement this commercial involvement is. And, as for funding… there’s a lot of, it seems, popular support for NASA funding, but, as to science funding in general, there is this chasm of special interests that sours people on the idea that this is an area for government involvement. If we could, maybe explain that what many of us want is pure science, far from market stuff. When the government funds ‘healthy cattle’ research, it wreaks of something a food producer co-op should be doing, rather than the US federal government. We could, though, theoretically create a US sector of biologicals, say gut bacteria research, and simultaneously lead to the solution for a whole group of these problems. We could have all the expert scientists based in the US! But we have to go for it where it really seems far from market.
AWESOME
The sound quality though 🙁
I want to go. 🙂
7:01 “Many other civilizations think much longer than that, and we need to start thinking that way…” “Stepping stones to other galaxies” ???
Sure why not. Lets go to mars. Howabout a humans who dont work so goddam hard on destroying each other summit.
Yeah. One thing at a time. Frickin brilliant.
he said that we need to learn how to orbit and land on asteroids first because we don’t know what it will be like. but we have been to the moon. so we need to go back to the moon to learn what we already did? why is this being presented as a low earth orbit vs. mars discussion? we need to do all of this. oh well, nasa, back to my ow aerospace program…
What in the hell is wrong with this audio?
If the politicians get to have their cold war back, NASA should get their cold war funding back.
google “the 90 day report mars” and read the pdf version… fascinating reading on how and how far we should be by now as of the 1989 plan.
I’m sorry but, we need a permanent moon colony before we go to Mars.
If we could just find those lost tractor-trailors of cash in Iraq and turn it over to NASA, maybe we could speed this up.
Its all good and amazing about that project of humans going on other planets.
But, we can never know what can we find there.
What if we bring back some deadly bacteria or virus that can destroy our planet?
Would it be worth it? I am sure you are all aware of this and that is the risk that must be taken, but pls be carefull, we can only make mistake like that, once.
Go faster k thanks.
Why do NASA officials and other responsible, knowledgeable people casually talk of ‘going to other stars and other galaxies’ as if such a thing were even remotely possible? They are either aiming their rhetoric at people they regard as extremely uninformed, scientifically illiterate and hugely gullible or else they … Actually there is no other explanation. NASA treats its public audience like they were morons.
I think I’ve heard somewhere that we may have something call a “Moon” or something, I’m not sure… well, anyways… from what I’ve heard, this Moon thing could be closer than Mars. I don’t know, I’m just saying.
Ya’ll need to find a way to mine space stuff
The sound destroys this.
That is a one way ticket to mars says “mars one” project.I think,if mars is able to live, must be alliens living already. But being in mars.let us closer to other planets. If nasa spent money on this, they know something we not.
Give more money to guys like Elon Musk and not to the guys like Vladimir Putin.
poor audio and video quality. any better recordings?
they need to invest in their sound quality
When they get an asteroid orbiting the moon, I hope it will be big enough to see with the naked eye. I think that would be really cool.
Iam with Alex maybe we should go to the moon first ? PZ
Tax religion and dump it all on NASA
Interesting that no one ever ask how much this is going to cost. The congress approved for the manned mission to Mars, then went on to approve more government revenue reductions and approved more big business investments in politics for the control of the government.
Have we forgotten what we learned about lunar navigation already?
man this is crappy audio and video encoding !
Hope you will work better with flying people to mars, man 😉
They dont even know whats up there or what they r dealing with!!
Maybe people can go to Mars for a short period of time, and even then it causes serious health damage. The human body is evolved on Earth, u can’t just addapt to Mars gravity and enviremont, even if you’re protected to some degree. Plus, u depend a 100% on technology. It’s just to radical. We have to screw Earth really bad, before considering colonizing Mars.
Going to Mars is not the biggest problem. It’s having the power to return to earth.
NASA and ESA should join forces, merge, in the economic areas as well. Oh about that: AMERICA: Grow up and start using metric! How can you collaborate with someone using a measurement system based on the length of ones thumb, foot and arms? Man.. Miles, acres, cups, gallons, GALLONS? Short and long tons? Get a grip and a new set of more intuitive tools alongside. Oh then there is Fahrenheit.. lol…
Dr. Zubrin had a few more strokes after hearing this…
Tell us about the aliens you hide from the public
Mars is a stepping stone to living in other solar systems…yall they are goin to leave us!
I hope I still have a reservation on this flight…
Very interesting
