e‑poison is not cool or hip & no one is real­ly “hack­ing” these things. By using buzz words like “hack­ing” & pay­ing the Verge to pro­mote them they are tar­get­ing the tech cen­tric consumer. 

More dis­gust­ing than smok­ing, which itself is disgusting!

I absolute­ly hate it when peo­ple use these things indoors. No, it is not smoke, it’s vapor. That vapor con­tains nico­tine and smells foul. Have some decen­cy and respect and step out­side, just like I had to when I smoked real cigarettes. 

The too long com­ment below is for smokers.

I was a heavy smok­er for 20 years, then spent 3 years on nico­tine replace­ment prod­ucts which end­ed up being more expen­sive than smok­ing and I still could­n’t get off nico­tine. I tried some of those lit­tle ecigs from time to time and always found some­thing I did­n’t like about them but for the past 6 months I’ve been sav­ing a tonne of mon­ey and hap­pi­ly using a mod that I find every bit as sat­is­fy­ing as smok­ing used to be.

Now I’m not say­ing peo­ple should try this if you’re not a smok­er, I think you’re insane if you try any­thing to do with nico­tine. Its a ter­ri­ble drug as while its rel­a­tive­ly harm­less to your health, its bru­tal­ly addic­tive. Only 3% of peo­ple (data from the UK) who con­sis­tent­ly try to quit, man­age it and that only ris­es to 6% with nico­tine replace­ment products.

Hav­ing said that, if you’re still a smok­er and you’ve found you can­not quit or at least haven’t so far then here’s an almost per­fect alter­na­tive that will feel like smok­ing with­out any of the 4000+ harm­ful chem­i­cals you get from cigarettes.

iTaste MVP V2 — £40ish that’s the base unit with a giant bat­tery that will last for days. It’s so pow­er­ful you can even charge your phone/tablet with it. It’s got a lit­tle screen on it and you can mon­i­tor and change the volt­age and wattage mak­ing it pret­ty much per­fect in my eyes. It’s a lit­tle bulky but there is a V3 mod­el that is much small­er and ide­al for tak­ing out and about but I take my V2 with me everywhere 🙂

Nau­tilus by Aspire — £25ish that’s the tank that sits on top that holds the liq­uid and vapor­is­es it. This one has a lit­tle wheel on it that you can turn to con­trol the air­flow which is what helps you get it just right for you, so the draw feels more cig­a­rette like and not too tight or too loose.

eliq­uid of your your choice, my fave is blue­ber­ry by vapeina­tor. Every­one has their own favourite though so that just takes a bit of time try­ing dif­fer­ent ones until you hit that one that feels like home.

Get the above and you’ll avoid all the bad things about vap­ing like it not feel­ing right in use, ter­ri­ble bat­tery life and so on. Espe­cial­ly if you’re one of those smok­ers that finds that throat hit you get from a cig­a­rette the sat­is­fy­ing bit about feed­ing your addic­tion. That’s the bit that’s hard­est to emu­late with a vapor­is­er but the above kit will give you that per­fect hit.

There is pub­lished data (again from the UK) show­ing that 20% and ris­ing man­age to come off cig­a­rettes when switch­ing to vap­ing. That fig­ure is ris­ing as the tech­nol­o­gy improves and the prod­ucts get bet­ter, mak­ing it the most effec­tive way on the mar­ket at com­ing off cig­a­rettes. And on the sub­ject of safe­ty. Yes the eliq­uid is dan­ger­ous stuff to han­dle, if you drink a bot­tle you could die but this is just because there is so much nico­tine in a bot­tle. The body can’t take that much, all smok­ers know if they smoke too hard for too long they get a headache and feel sick. It’s the same when vap­ing, you can’t vape too much because you’ll make your­self sick long long before you ever get into trou­ble from over­dos­ing on nico­tine. Again there are pub­lished stud­ies on this for vap­ing that show peo­ple reg­u­late their nico­tine intake every bit as effec­tive­ly as peo­ple who smoke cig­a­rettes. And the vapor that comes off is as safe as the stuff that smoke machines pump out at a kids par­ty. It’s the same stuff just minus the nicotine.

This video is crap! Just a bunch of oth­er peo­ples vids like IndoorSmok­ers com­plied togeth­er with some­one that sounds like they know noth­ing about vap­ing and is read­ing a wiki page lmao. We dont “hack”.…we drill air holes big­ger for more air­flow and build coils for dif­fer­ent purposes.…its called mod­ding because back before mechs, guys would sol­der a 510 and a momen­tary switch into maglights, hence “mod­ding it”. 

Start look­ing at ingre­di­ents and you’ll seen PG/VG in A LOT of stuff includ­ing asth­ma inhalers and your kids gum­my can­dy. It’s impos­si­ble not to come into con­tact with this stuff dai­ly. The nico­tine con­cen­tra­tion is far less than that in a cig­a­rette. Drink­ing the juice will make you sick just like eat­ing a cig­a­rette will. The only dan­ger­ous thing about mods and atom­iz­ers is neglect­ing to learn basic elec­tri­cal con­cepts and try­ing to do some­thing stupid.
