Just tried the demo song with a cou­ple dif­fer­ent pairs of head­phones. 11.1 sur­round out of reg­u­lar head­phones is a pure LIE. The song actu­al­ly sound­ed worse. There was a very notice­able loss of detail in the sound, a big bass boost, and LESS sep­a­ra­tion in sounds in the mix and with­in the stereo field. When you turn off the sur­round odd­ly enough the song sounds very clear, nice sep­a­ra­tion of the dif­fer­ent sounds, you can clear­ly hear what chan­nel the sound is com­ing from. Basi­cal­ly the sur­round did the exact oppo­site of what it was sup­posed to. The orig­i­nal mix sound­ed more “sur­round.” I call huge BULLSHIT on this one. Don’t believe the hype!

If any­one picks this up and likes it. You may also like the quadra­phon­ic ver­sion of pink floyd dark­side of the moon, The dif­fer­ence is the pink floyd album was orig­i­nal­ly mas­tered in         quadra­phon­ic and not remas­tered like this album.

Quadra­phon­ic is what they called 4.0 audio in the 60’s.

Can you lisent 11.1 sounds with 7.1 headsets?

By the way, Lou, you won’t be able to get the full expe­ri­ence just by plug­ging into the hor­ren­dous jack from a smart­phone. Even my $70ish Fiio Q1 does an incred­i­ble job of putting life to music instead of the dumpy DAC/amp on a moth­er­board, smart­phone, etc. Seri­ous­ly, even if you don’t do a response, try out a fair­ly cheap DAC/amp com­pared to “stock” sound from a phone or com­put­er. It seri­ous­ly makes a difference.

Just bought mine. Can’t wait!!

Incred­i­ble album. each track took a dif­fer­ent place in my pri­or­i­ty list over the years. I mean I was so musi­cal­ly novice when it came out. I was­n’t think­ing about all the tech­ni­cal stuff that I think about now as a musi­cian with 25 years of play­ing mul­ti­ple instru­ments… I remem­ber buy­ing the cas­sette tape of Bad­mo­torfin­ger in Ocean City MD back in like 1994, because most­ly “Outshined”…but I was also just pick­ing up the whole Zep cat­a­log, the first VU album and the first Pink Floyd album and peo­ple in my cir­cle were lis­ten­ing to hip hop and and Metal­li­ca and GnR, RAGE, Nir­vana, and whatnot…so there was a swirl of influ­ences over dif­fer­ent eras, I mean even grow­ing up from 3 or 4 years old hear­ing Bea­t­les, Supremes, James Brown, Beach Boys CCR 4 tops, temp­ta­tions, mamas and papas.and such on the oldies sta­tion… I think there are a lot of peo­ple of my age in that camp.. I was­n’t hip to the pre­vi­ous 5 or 6 years of ‘alter­na­tive’ music… I did­n’t even real­ly know about the Pix­ies because only cool­er peo­ple knew about them and I was­n’t quite in that realm of influ­ences… and even if I’d heard Love­less then, I might not have got it, because I did­n’t get it even 8 years lat­er,… it took longer for that to take hold… I did­n’t like Bauhaus or even Joy Divi­sion then… but I liked NIN… A LOT.… ANYWAY, this album SUPERUNKNOWN has become one of my favorites over the years.. When I actu­al­ly put the title track on , in the car one day maybe 10 years ago.… real­ly loud… it was a rev­e­la­tion. I love the jangle‑y ness of the gui­tars but Chris just belt­ing out these vocals is just such a state­ment… like yeah moth­er­fuck­er, i’m gonna go all the fuck­ing way and get cathar­tic AF on you all right now . okay and I will end with just Matt fuck­ing Cameron y’aall !!!!
