Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 40 Flight Engineer Alexander Gerst of the European Space Agency participated in a hometown reunion from orbit as he discussed his flight with dignitaries and residents of Kunzelsau, Germany, during an in-flight event Sept. 4. Gerst, who arrived on the complex in late May, is in the midst of a 5 1Ž2 mission that will culminate in a landing in Kazakhstan in his Russian Soyuz TMA-13M spacecraft in early November.
