Same shitty fonts. What happened about the “new” font I read about, that they were going to add? For $200, I’d want a few more fonts. Why not Times Roman? Georgia? Garamond? All those fonts that are in the Kindle app? The option to sideload our own fonts?
I’ll stick with my generation 1 Paperwhite on which I’ve downgraded the firmware so I can use my own fonts.
Nice review
I plan on buying a kindle for somebody as a gift but i’m not sure which route to go down.
Get this Kindle Voyage or get the paperwhite and that leaves me with £60 i can give also as a gift card so the person can buy books with it?
Thanks for talking about the backlight aspect–was worried you couldn’t adjust it yourself. I like that this is larger capacity than the PW, but I don’t wanna get on the “have to buy a new Kindle every year” bandwagon, so I may wait til next year or something.
A friend of mine bought the refurbished $59 Kindle, and he’s pretty happy with it. So I think a person could buy a kindle at any price level and be pretty satisfied.

Hat down for Sanderson. I personally will not upgrade from 1st generation Paperwhite as long as they don’t make it less distracting while reading. Right now I cover Kindle logo with my thumb, as it screams from the black color (grey Kindle, Amazon?). Voyage has twice as many distracting features around the bezel, and I don’t have as many thumbs.
The screen looks too bright and too tablet-like. I think i’ll ask for a kindle paperwhite 2nd generation for xmas instead of this.
Love it. Can’t wait to get my hands on this new toy.
The Verge, what happens if you hold the next button down? does it flick through multiple pages or just one?
Win awesome prizes like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare or an Xbox One Console! http://sdqk.me/TA5O934x/moh557OR
I personally wouldn’t mind a 6.5″ or even a 7″ screen…
its back looks like an old-school calculator.
dx version where are you?!
When did they change from front lit to back lit displays ?
can somebody tell me how they put the letters behind the things ? what program do they use ?
This is basicallly a kobo aura with page turn buttons and way more expencive
Wow, so Kobo aura (HD) isn’t a king anymore? Impressive.
Looks like someone like Way of Kings!
Amazing product, a “to buy” for me 😀
No Canada again. the deserted land
I like the aesthetics of the paperwhite much more. What’s with that ugly plastic piece on the back? Does it have a purpose?
Does it have every book
Please respond
What’s it like to use this to do gmail? I’m assuming it’s possible to do it with the 3G version and the web browser.
What material on the back side?
Basically Amazon installed back the page turn buttons removed after Kindle Keyboard and calls it “Reinvented page turns — PagePress enables you to turn the page without lifting a finger”. Also charges £70 premium over the standard Paperwhite.
Yup, progress.
you said the paperwhite had 221, it was listed as 212, but
what would you say, if i told you, the resolution, is NOT 300 ppi? it is closer to 298.6.
I find this funny because the 2012/2013 paperwhites resolution was actually 213.33(repeating), not 212, and it was 166.66(repeating) for the 167 kindle 8
the math in case you are interested:
1430/(sqrt(36/32113)*143) or 1080/(sqrt(36/32113)*108)
the lefthand page press only goes back not forward — any suggestions? Thanks
I love my kindle voyage! I’ve had it for a few months now and i will never buy another paperback again! The convenience of reading on my phone then coming home to my kindle and having it remember what page i left off on is just amazing. Only thing is that sometimes i get frustrated trying the turn the page back or getting the drop down to show, but maybe thats just user error haha :p
do not buy this product it dies after 14 months no warranty will cover you. save your money.
Great video content! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about — Proutklarton Winner System Plan (google it)? It is an awesome one off product for discovering how Stefan makes 6 figures passive income publishing books minus the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend at very last got astronomical results with it.
Check this e‑reader. It’s brilliant : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OQVZDJM/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00OQVZDJM&linkCode=as2&tag=bogotta-20&linkId=61547649aae5792be8f61b4256f85ed6
Three years later and they stopped producing it
Kind of blown away
Saves so much electricity compared to the heat pump. Wish it was a little less noisy.
