Welcome to the future guys!
Why where there two shots dedicated solely to showing off the Quirky power strip. I get that Wink is part of Quirky, but it’s nothing more than a regular power strip. It doesn’t have any smart home features, and isn’t even doing anything in the demo home since there is only one device even plugged into it.
The future is now.
What happens when your phone runs out of power or there is a power cut in the apartment, you would be locked in/out the apartment that’s a huge safety concern
Smart home? Maybe we should start with smart people first.
Nice consumer product, but more interesting question is why industries already have all this technologies and only now it felt like a consumer product??
Most modern building already is “smart” building, they have central computers and sensors everywhere for power-saving & security & emergency.
I’d rather my home not be hackable.
David, please stop. You are not doing this video, or The Verge a favor.
Wow what tv was that at 1:48? and i got a question a loft can bought as if it were a house right like you can own it and live their your whole life if you want?
One word: Hacking.
I did not really see the value just looks like a clapper with a router
The door unlock was scary loud
The network delay was disappointing as this is there set up what will yours be like
Just throw money at this start up there interested in other things.
Like performance technology art.
Cory archangel has won this game.
Now a heat lamp tracker that’s worth it.
At the moment I would be a hater
I know what is missing! SECURITY
I love watching things like this — technology changing the way we live. That’s all I like about it to be honest. Controlling everything by a remote sounds like a shit way to live. I’ve seen people already say this but I’ll repeat it — a solution to no problem.
What do people think of this compared to Vera and other similar whole home systems?
I will only be cool if you can give your house a name with voice recognition and be like: Jarvis turn on the tv and make me coffee
That’s so cool
What happen if the power goes out and your door is locked with their smart door? How will I get out or in to my house if the powers out and door is stuck in lock? Or worser off if the power goes out and the door automatically unlocks itself, then that be easy for criminals to just walk in
Thank you for the video, but please drop the last 30 sec of this video. People will like or subscribe if they like it. You don’t need to nag them after every good video.
That guy reminds me of Andrew Garfield
Screw that, smart home should be controlled by a computer. I never carry a phone around inside my house, and ill never will.
very cool!
So they just created the “HAL 9000”…the end is near
This would be perfect for impressing girls when you get them to come home with you.
The point is that you can turn on and off a switch just walking to it and without even thinking or looking at it. The smartphone requires to fiddle with it. This is why analog switches are still the best solution.
Hey Verge, thanks so much for making this video. The first thing you should do, if you value your viewers, is change that end-slate speech. Then, if you haven’t already, you should think about having a higher standard with the words you say, just like you have a high standard with the overall video production. Not denigrating the audience is awesome, you’ll love it. And you’ll specially love to be a bit more polite, which you should try to be right now, because, really, what else are you doing?…
TL;DR: Please don’t tell me what I should or shouldn’t do. Please don’t imply that I have nothing better to do with my time than to watch your videos.
that guys def got a ** down his throat.
what the hell did he say about security?? how will they prevent it from being hacked
What’s the point of this? How does it make our lives easier and what does it enable us to do that we couldn’t before?
Any idea what the sleek window unit at 3:18 is?
