Best Smartphone Car Mounts!

I like the idea of the Kenu Air­frame keep­ing your phone out of the way, but I want my air!

What i care most about with these is the suc­tion. I have one with the suc­tion of an 82 year old with emphy­se­ma and it always falls over.

Grip Go. 

I would like a car mount with:
- Air vent clip
- No large back phone pan­el so air flow can cool my phone
- 2 points of con­tact grip on the side (por­trait mode)
- 1 point of con­tact on the bot­tom usb charg­ing dock
- one hand­ed place­ment, mean­ing 1 point  on the side and the charg­ing dock have to slide out like the kenu.

This is per­fec­tion: 1 hand­ed, gps cool­ing, & charg­ing. Basi­cal­ly Kenu needs to make the same thing but attach a charg­ing dock on the bot­tom, but con­nect it to the slide out arm.

I use one that came with my mom’s Sam­sung Galaxy S3. I per­son­al­ly think it’s bet­ter than the three you’ve shown. rub­bery padding so you won’t scratch your phone, firm grip, eas­i­ly adjustable. It’s real­ly good.

I’ve used 2 iBolt Pro’s with my Note 3 in an Otter­box Defend­er case. Each of them failed in a cou­ple of weeks: the met­al struts frac­tured. The app is good though. I use an iOt­tie now with­out any problems. 

Would have liked to now about their abil­i­ty to work with cases

I’ve gone through mul­ti­ple phone mounts over the years. They always seem to break, or they don’t hold the phone well enough, or they fall off the dash 10x/week. The last one I pur­chased was over a year ago and it’s been amaz­ing. Hon­est­ly, I did­n’t real­ize it was an “iOt­tie” until I saw every­one post­ing about it, looked it up on ama­zon and saw that I pur­chased it last year, haha. Seri­ous­ly, though. If you want some­thing that’s stur­dy, that won’t let your phone vibrate, and that’ll allow you to mount and unmount ANY phone with one hand (I use the One­Plus One and before that I used it with my Note 2+Otterbox), go for the Ottie! I’ve had the iBolt for awhile and the biggest flaw real­ly it HOW tight it holds. The prob­lem is that the arm is weak as hell. I’ve had two arm replace­ments now and the ball end where the dock attach­es has com­plete­ly bro­ken off both times. This is due to the sheer force of the grip and if you con­tin­u­al­ly take the phone out with one hand (which the man­u­fac­tur­er encour­ages), it puts a lot of torque on that arm and even­tu­al­ly with­in about 3 months, the ball end breaks off. So, my advice is to use two hands if you get this dock because oth­er­wise, you’ll be con­tin­u­al­ly buy­ing new arms for it.

I had 2 prob­lems with the first one. After about a month or so of use the suc­tion cup lit­er­al­ly peeled off  and the lit­tle flip out stand your phone rests on in case the arms don’t hold it tight enough gets in the way of charg­ing if your microusb port is on the bot­tom of your phone.

Do you have sim­i­lar rec­om­men­da­tions for phone mounts used in cam­era or video shoots?

Hey my sus­pen­sion is stiff AF so when I’m using the phone mount I have now (for my Note 3 that uses a c clamp style) it can not record videos with­out a mas­sive amount of shake. I’ve mount­ed from the dash, the wind­shield and var­i­ous oth­er places but I’ve noticed the actu­al clamp style seems to the biggest source of prob­lems. How do you think the iBolt will work for me?

I use the Scosche mag­ic mount pro and it holds my 6s Plus well.
