The only thing this is useful for is watching 5k content, if you want to pay $2.5k to watch non existent content then have fun…
What? I’ve already seen 8k TVs bro.. http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/08/samsungs-98-inch-8k-tv-lets-us-go-to-the-mall-without-leaving‑c/
it’s also the “World’s Highest Resolution Display in an All in One” so kudos to Apple 🙂
Weird, I clicked “Skip This Ad” but then it just started a different ad, for the iMac Retina
So another overpriced all in one from apple. Yay this is greatly needed. Said xno on ever. With built in graphics this won’t handle much…
$3000 5K display iMac to watch Youtube on 360p? I’ll pass.
Interesting… but I hate how they name things “Fusion Drive” and “Retina Display”, man these marketing names are silly. Just tell us it’s 5kx3k and it’s fine, but hearing stupid shit like Retina makes me cringe.
Also, M290X to push 5kx3k?!! That won’t even budge Minecraft at that resolution.
and apple didn’t make any of them
I’m not a fan of Apple, but this monitor is m pretty nice. The only con is that it has OSx.
Wow the Verge 5 apple videos 0 android 5.0 videos wonder why you get such bad ratings on this is my next videos
The iVerge fanboy fapping is out of control…
This isn’t meant for fucking gaming in 5k. It’s for video and photo editing. God, you people judge this shit on video game performance. It’s priced accordingly. You can probably play game on high at 1080 or 2k just fine.
Yea…much better than shitty pc’s. Macs have always been ruling. Windows 10 just copied os x snow leopard that came out 4 years ago. Pc will never catch up
But Dell released a 5K monitor about two months ago, this is not new
Let the iVerge comments roll. You guys are very original. All of you.
The iVerge fanboy fapping is out of control.
Whats the trakk in the background??
I have to give it to Apple on this one, so far in the PC world the only 5K monitor is the Dell UP2715K, and it retails for 2499.99$!
For Apple to give you a 5K screen like that one and stick a fully functioning PC to it, rapped inside an aluminum body is just a good deal.
I hope that pushes the manufacturers to drop the prices on them 4K & 5K IPS displays, I’m tired of them TN 4K shits.
I’m a PC user by the way, and I’m not intending to change that anytime soon.
I’ts not the “World’s Highest Resolution Display”. LG and samsung had the 8k display and exist displays with highhest resolution.
You’re lying…
It’s like you guys just ignored all the 8K displays at CES, and I saw you there
“Worlds highest resolution display“
Wrong! World highest res commercial class display!
I can’t believe Marques Brownlee made that mountain wallpaper so popular that now apple uses it on his videos
2014 and still no touch screen!?
highest? what about DELL’s Ultra HD 5K monitor which came out first and i’m not trying to make an argument here but COME ON MAN!
The point of this 5K display is to look hella nice, not because it’s remotely useful in any way. This has been the whole point of retina displays since the iPhone 4. Anyone whining that there’s no use for this doesn’t understand that consumer technology isn’t based entirely around being able to do the most work possible.
Apple is setting a new standard for consumer technology. In 2 years from now when all desktops monitors are 5k you will wonder how the hell you used those ugly pixelly 2560x1440 displays. It happened with smartphones and will happen again with desktops.
They should’ve named it Scratch Uretina Display because of its price.
@AnimeBeefRandoms There are people who use computers for other things than just dicking around. Photoshop is way more detailed, you won’t need to zoom in as much. Also you can edit 4k video at full resolution with room left for the editor UI. Also 3D models with much more detail.
@aruanboggy Yes go get a 5K screen laptop with a 3.5Ghz desktop i5 and also get a magic pony that can shit rainbows and clouds.
Display is a pretty general term, since that would include experimental 8K displays.
Fandroids were like ha we have 4k displays, the higher the better. Apple releases a 5k display, the first you can buy and fandroids are like who need a high resolution screen, hd is just fine. I think whatever company advances technology is a good one.
Gigabits ≠ gigabytes
I thought The Verge was about journalism and reviews? Replace the voice with the guy from Apple and I would’ve thought this was an advertisement from Apples own Youtube channel.
This is pretty damn sad to watch, and incredibly biased, considering The Verge never does this with any other companies or products.
$2499? for a computer? its 2014 for fuck sake
This must be the best value Apple product ever. Pretty impressive, honestly. Can’t wait to try it out.
0:38 oh come on..
People sat “at this price they should have…” Blah blah blah.
The price would be ok, if it just was a regular monitor.
It’s fucking 5K!
That’s it, I’m unsubscribing from this crap. What the heck did I just watch?
The price? The price is perfect. Here in Brasil, a iMac Retina is R$ 22k
Can i get 4 of those m295 Radeon chips in this please?
Then you would be able to play with that thing! Wouldn’t that be great?!
“World’s highest resolution display” my ass. #iVerge
Computer for photography? Yes. Computer for other things? Nah.…
Ppi anyone?
Dammit they put an r9 290m in that thing so underpowered for 5k that’s not even a top of the line desktop graphics card and most top of the line cards can’t handle 5k well
ahahahhaha sure
