Last Week Tonight host John Oliver challenged news networks to use footage of an all-dog Supreme Court to make to the oral arguments “more compelling to watch.” Challenge accepted. The following is actual audio recording from this year’s broadcasters vs. Aereo case, wherein Aereo’s lawyers spar with the canine judges over how to define technology using bizarre metaphors.

Great video… made mundane court proceedings fun!! awesome job Last Week Tonight and The Verge!
As a fellow citizen, thank you for doing this. I do feel that this is actually important work for the advancement of our democracy.
笑死我了
wait, so who’s the valet and who’s the dealership in this metaphor?
A e ro dy na mik.
How can I upload and edit a video like this. Is there a program? I have a mac. I tried uploading the YouTube video but won’t play in imovie.
This is the same as listening to public access radio online through your phone…
I don’t think arguing about phonographs is necessarily that the justices are out of touch. I think it’s a sign that they’re unprofessional. They’re wasting time having chit-chats about valet services.
Hay que ver al jurado son ??
lol!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant, simply brilliant. I admit I wouldn’t have normally paid attention to a Supreme Court case, but the dogs made it engrossing! It’s a fascinating case too, so I’m glad I stumbled upon it.
wait a second… it WORKED, people are actually talking about the decision.
Awesome!
This is beautiful.
Thank you, sir.
You, sir, are a true american hero.
Big thumbs up!
AAAHHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for using this! Hilarious
Jon Oliver was right. This does make it a lot more interesting.
I don’t think it’s really fair to say the judges haven’t caught up with the current state of technology: their job is try to find a legal precedent for everything, and so comparisons with things that have already been litigated are a major part of such hearings; it may or may not be the case that the justices themselves are unfamiliar with these technologies, but they’re all highly educated, intelligent people and could understand these concepts when they are explained *if they weren’t trying to find a way to apply the US Constitution (and prior interpretations of the Constitution in “similar” cases) to those concepts*.

Omg it’s when chief justice Roberts said radio shack that I knew he’s OLD😂😂😂😂

But where is the rest of the SCOTUS decisions of the last 4 years?
So my copy is different from your copy. But there’s a reason why we call them copies because they’re the same.
I am a simple man. When something is made easier for me to digest it goes down the gullet.
