Live at CES 2015, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai announced that the company’s new smart TVs will run on Google’s new platform for television, Android TV. And they’re thin — one is 4.9mm thick at its thinnest point. That’s .2 inches, if you’re imperial.

Many reports say this TV is the best of CES 2015, and I agree & wish I could afford it…
ok, WTF DO WE NEED SUPERTHIN TVS FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cool…
I really want it…
Where is the “SONY” logo lol?
Why do we need thinner tvs? For one, thinner tv’s mean thinner boxes, which means the store can now have more in stock, and for stores floor space is very valuable so this might be appealing to them.
insane
And everybody buy Samshit’s TV because it cheaper (on price)
This sure is the best TV of CES 2015. I would like to look at it if SONY Store in NYC is going to have it
not impressed, I want a screen that can cut a sheet of paper in half, edgewise
I think tv’s are such ancient tech, I’m sick of seeing a black screen when its not on. How about something a little more techy Sony. holgraphics need to be looked at more.
Innovation that excites as Nissan puts it.…or something like that. Please be affordable
Sony is back bitches
The voice commands rarely work. Can you imagine in an office of 100 people each talking to their computers? Keyboard is the solution for it. Also, keys with tactile feedback are better, but that’s another story. Sony giving into Android might hurt them same way like any kind of association with Microsoft hurt them to the point that they had to withdraw from computer market. Sony please listen, Google just like Microsoft is not your friend, they are there to destroy you and eliminate from the market at all cost. Please develop your own OS, you have resources for that.
This is the best thing out of CES 2015 imo
How much?
How many hours a day or week do the TVs watch you?
cool
winning!! finally no more smart tv bull
I’ve never been interested in TVs, but this TV caught my eye. Actually I want to see it…
Just say ” The Vegetable”..
I’m sure the TV will recognize that command…
perfect for me…
Speaking very loud near the microphone is actually very stupid, since all the audio gets distorted, and the smart tv processing al the voice data gets confused.
instead of hearing ‘the verge’ is listening ‘fshhhhhEEEuEEErhshhhhhh’
wow…
I really like it
not very fond of voice commands,
Android TVs are cool. Still, it’s super thin…
Sony is still great engineering company, but luck of platform vision
THE VERGE
so cool
I like it
innovation
Hi, Any idea when are those TVs going to be released? right around the time when CES2015 was happening I was planning to buy a Sony smartTV but then i heard about this (that they will have android tv), which is great. So i decided to wait.
but how much should i wait?
amazing…
nice
This TV is cool
so cool
mmm I want it, but it must be expensive„,
I like it. It looks so beautiful
Thats a great looking panel for sure, i have a great TV at the minute but the way tech is moving so fast it already appears to be an old model.
The TV itself looks great, but I’m not too keen on Android. I’d much rather see Firefox OS, on smart TVs.
It’s not out for sale yet…
looks super cool. be affordable
I’d LOVE to see the real one.
Just merge the god damn television and computer already.….
That’s clearly what they are hinting at. Give me a television with a desktop class CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD drive and have it run on Windows 10. Create a television suite in Windows 10 that offers a nice channel surfing and DVR interface for those still using set top boxes and call it a freaking day!
I want it
innovative. I like it
I could kick the damn tv and my foot would pass through.
