Apple is releasing an all-new Photos app for the Mac this year. It’s completely rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up, with much better performance and better iCloud integration than iPhoto ever had. Here’s our first look an at early version of it.

When’s this coming out?
I need your help! I have my iPhoto Library on a NAS and not enough space on my MacBook to import the complete library into Photos, so I can not use the “import” on the first startup, but after creating a fresh Photos library I can no longer select the iPhoto Library unter “Import”… any ideas how to get around this? Thank you very much!
素晴らしい、非常に快適そうに見える
早く使いたい!
Se for mais rápido e eficaz, melhor!
Why Apple? Stop copying everyone. Who agrees?
WOW i loved. Finally something good by apple
Stfu
Can you tell me what you didn’t like too?
How could he get those photos? That are Apple official photos for demo purposes.
I pound
Why is Apple drooping “i“s
I would definitely have preferred if you had looked at the camera…
I can’t believe that photos apps and Live Gallery on Windows 8.1 are still Better than This one
cute review; but does ‘Photos for Mac’ blow up 10 Gb of pictures to 14 Gb on your harddrive? Because that’s what iPhoto did by creating these weird thumbnails and stuff, and the reason why I never used it. Answers anyone?
is it availabale on windows !?
For god sake please bring back the 90 seconds on verge , this channel is really boring without it
The live editing between the iPhone and Mac is really cool!
Looks nice for what it is, but if there isn’t external storage support I doubt I’d ever begin to use this. Let’s hope there is.
I miss the days when Apple actually developed cutting-edge software for the pro market (not that Aperture was great).
Well, Not for Pro 🙂
Is it out in the UK ?
The app does look good, for photos taken with your iPhone. But for anything else why would you switch? And why would they kill off Aperture, which wasn’t even going for the same market. That’d be like introducing the iOS movies app and killing off iMovie and FCPX, when they, while working with the same medium, are used in very different ways. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense I must say. I’ll probably give it a try out of curiosity but no way I’m removing Aperture anytime soon
Finally something to use other than iPhoto, I extremely disliked that program!
nope, i’ll still stick to my live photo gallery… haha
why is it that the verge just always covers everything apple does yet dosnt for other tech companies
Yay! More celeb nudes!
i can do this on google photos on web browser really easy.
Can I get it now? Or is it only for developers<?
What a load of crap “rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up” big Apple fan but this is no different. It is the same thing as iPhoto its just white. I swear who ever made iPhoto and Photo is related to Tim Cook. Sorry am I missing something? Still the same confusing way to handle pictures.
aint you a hip looking guy :*
cool
I’ve seen a lot of hate over PHOTOS for Mac but I’m really looking forward to getting it. I’m currently using Aperture but really just as a photo storage app. When I want to do some serious editing, I’ll use Photoshop. When I want to tinker around I’ll use something like FX Studio… The adjustments offered in PHOTOS looks like just enough to be useful for quick fixes which is perfect for what it is. But the syncing between devices is really cool and looks like the app is running a lot snappier then Aperture. Can’t wait to get it!

How can I change the Title of photos of a BATCH. I can’t seem to find it.
How do you hide photos/albums? When I hide photos in the new Photos app, they are not viewable under the camera roll/photos tab, but you can still view albums that contain said hidden photos. In iPhoto, I was able to completely hide albums by hiding all photos inside it.
When you import the pictures from a folder does this app create a duplicate?
Anyone having issue importing to external Drive?
I’m unable to import my 190GB iPhoto from external drive to Photo App.
getting this message.
”“Photos does not have the necessary permissions to create a Photos library in the folder that contains your library””
I am now updating
how did you get your Albums to carry over? Did you manually add them? I can only get the photos app to dump all the photos in to a clunky timeline view. I like having events separated (i.e. Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, etc)
how I drag and drop from photos to another app? photoshop, safari, pages.. doesn’t work at all. only finder
Uh can someone help me please. Im trying to drag the video’s that were imported onto my desktop and it wont let me, also I’ve tried exporting to a folder, didnt seem to work. Help
thanks for this demo, well done.
how do i put my videos on photos into imovie???
whats the point of this video ? no help at all
Can it able to view multiple photos?
Worthless
