The new HTC One M9 looks remarkably similar to its predecessor, the One M8. This was an intentional move by HTC, a company intent on “building an icon” through consistent design and leading-edge technology. Here’s chief designer Claude Zellweger explaining that philosophy and the thinking behind the decisions made in the new M9.

hehe Deutsche bei TheVerge immer wieder gut
I still have a M7 & was planning to buy the M9 but that camera is such a let down.
S3 to S5..not so much changes in their design philosophy too..so, what’s the point here
Summary of this video:
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” ‑MKBHD
“clearly identifiable as a one” cause it looks exactly like the last 2 years. That and the camera sample that I saw were not good at all. Will see when it comes out but this isn’t the product that is going to bring htc back to the power company it once was that’s for sure.
I have an HTC One and love it. The only thing I don’t like about the phone is the camera. I knew before buying it that it was only a 4 megapixel camera. I’m not a person that takes a tone of pictures with my phone so I didn’t think I’d really care, until I actually started using it. And the camera is absolutely terrible. If they fix that with the next phone it will be perfect.
The One series have always looked great, but since the M8 that black bar below the screen has been pretty useless. I prefer how the M7 utilizes that space in having capacitive keys and therefore maximizing its screen size.
I’m sorry, but this just PR sophistry. HTC are right: reinventing the wheel is foolish, but the ONE series isn’t round yet. The sound driver bar is unacceptable after a two year product cycle, the speakers do not need to be that large (see Xperia Z2), the camera bump is an inevitable result of purchasing cheap Toshiba stock and no effort has been made with the battery despite similar sized — larger mAh tech now being available. Whether this is indolence or a cash-flow problem I’m not sure, but for a company whose primary revenue is derived from it’s annual flagship, this may be an Annus horriblis for HTC.
I think that m9 is a disappointment. Owning a m8 I expected some new features like finger print scanner and a higher resolution screen to show off and other useful features to make me want to upgrade but what we got instead is a slightly better looking phone with a camera that has more pixels.
I remember when there were arguments over which phone was thinnest, all the Apple fans were criticising other phones for having protruding cameras, saying that doesn’t count and therefore the iPhone is the thinnest. Bit now iPhone cameras protrude and all the Apple fans are completely silent on it. The Sony Xperia Z3 is the only flagship without a protruding camera.
good interview.
This is how Andrew Garfield will look in future
HTC’s designs have always been great. But if they came out with a big upgrade to the M9 I think the attention would have been more on the M9 than Samsung’s S6 and S6 Edge.
I’m amazed the Verge didn’t ask questions like: how come you didn’t make it like the iPhone 6? It’s not an iPhone 6, what’s up with that? So are there other company’s that aren’t Apple? Apple Apple Apple? You’re not Jony Ive? Where’s Tim Cook? I fell over the other day, must’ve been because of Android? Etc…
Fuck yeah.
This phone deserves way more attention then the gs6. Gs6 is not a bad phone but everybody talks about it and forget about this beauty.
I’ll buy HTC and Iphone in a heart beat if they ran on Touchwiz. I had many iphones for 5 yrs and HTC for 2 years and I hate them both , iphone boring, HTC sense sucks. Currently use Galaxy S4 and S5 love them both. Galaxy S5 running Lollipop is awesome smooth like butter.
Without him saying it he just told us about a new phone coming up. Maybe the m9 plus?
HTC is great in making body design, but not on hardware or software design
Basically everyone do what apple does, change the product slightly. This is not a criticism it actually works out better… for the manufacturer >:(
One EYE looks good.
there is no design, this guy isnt working!
