NASA announced on Tuesday, May 26, the selection of science instruments for a mission to Europa to investigate whether Jupiter’s icy moon could harbor conditions suitable for life. NASA received 33 proposals for science instruments to fly onboard a Europa mission, which would conduct repeated close flybys of the small moon during a three-year period.
Participants in the announcement were:
· John Grunsfeld, associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters
· Jim Green, director, Planetary Science Division, NASA Headquarters
· Curt Niebur, Europa program scientist, NASA Headquarters

NASA if you are going to inspired the youth, don’t read stuff from a telepromter.. Be more Carl Sagan
I love her voice.
SOOOO COOL! I AM YOUR NUMBER 1 FAN!!!
Great mission, great announces.
Superb there is enough budget left, still beyond getting to mars.
Thanks to NASA and partners, keep on pushing .
Maybe we will have in near future 3–4 autonomous spacecrafts:
1. Mostly autonomous “Space Satellite” is able to dock autonomously on the ISS, get refueled by another autonomous spacecraft “tanker”, could reach every point in our solar system and collect data & pictures of every object as long as we want coming back to the ISS from upgrades and new instruments and maintenance and getting back into space
2. Autonomous “Space Tanker” does fuel the “Space Satellite” autonomously by fuel to have/produced in space/ from Planets
Later 2 of them to fuel also the ISS and as a back up.
(3.) An mostly autonomous “Space Recovery” which is near the “Space Tanker” and got the triple size of tank & fuel then the
“Space Satellite” and is able to get the “Space Satellite” to the ISS when problems do appear.
4. Autonomous “Space Drone” After a while we could upgrade the “Space Satellite” with a drone which can take samples and detail pictures on/near the surface of simple objects.
What would not speak for such a project ?
I was hoping for Titan but Europa is just as good.
I hate it when I lose my notes.
that’s no moon…
…that’s the retina of a hypertensive, diabetic
haven’t watched the whole vid yet but i wonder how in a future mission they will get a submersible inside. a nuclear pile/heater to bore a temporary hole? and have t he submersible sit on top of it as it drops through the barrier? how will the submersible communicate with a relay? maybe have a heated cable trail the heater? will the cable shear off if the ice shifts?
In search of the black Monolith !
Best idea since the Cassini mission. Good job NASA!
ALL OF THESE PLANETS ARE YOURS, EXCEPT EUROPA. ATTEMPT NO LANDINGS THERE. Aaaah just kidding. Go for it! Excited for this mission!
What if the brown stuff near the cracks is made up of bacteria, or other small organism ?
But probably its just a mineral.
NASA forgot to include a rod for ice fishing.
Great news about the Europa mission. I was hoping there would be some a lander of some kind as one of the instruments selected. Even if it was small at least have something that can detach and land. But very exciting news NASA!
Felicia sounds like Lisa Simpson
Fantastic. What an intriguing planet. I hope I see the results in my lifetime.
Space ♡
Ignore previous post, this one is a lot better 🙂
I know this is going astray from the topic a little, but I hope that NASA feels interested enough to eventually send another mission to Uranus & Neptune; while their moons may not be as dynamic as those of Jupiter and Saturn, I feel that they could pose a few interesting surprises. And I look forward to seeing how this mission goes!
Why not go to Titan (a moon of Saturnus) instead of mars after the Europa mission.
It seems like a far more interesting place to me.
but when did they start building robots disguised as asian women?
Good Job NASA!
Good host Felicia Chou!
That’s great news. Very interesting can’t wait to see more mission details. 😉
Why? Why only ten thousand views on this video?!! (((
I see this video from Russia. Americans you do not understand what you have ((
And in what great country you live.
