Expe­di­tion 45 Soyuz Com­man­der Sergei Volkov of the Russ­ian Fed­er­al Space Agency (Roscos­mos) and vis­it­ing crew mem­bers Andreas Mogensen of the Euro­pean Space Agency (ESA) and Aidyn Aim­be­tov of the Kaza­kh Space Agency (Kaz­cos­mos), and their back­ups, Oleg Skripochka and Sergei Prokopy­ev of Roscos­mos and Thomas Pes­quet of ESA par­tic­i­pat­ed in tra­di­tion­al cer­e­monies at the Gagarin Cos­mo­naut Train­ing Cen­ter in Star City, Rus­sia on August 18. After­ward, they depart­ed for the Baikonur Cos­mod­rome in Kaza­khstan to com­plete their train­ing for the launch of Volkov, Mogensen and Aim­be­tov on Sept.2, Kaza­kh time, in the Soyuz TMA-18M space­craft to the Inter­na­tion­al Space Agency. Also fea­tured is vet­er­an Russ­ian cos­mo­naut Alex­ei Leonov, the first human to walk in space and the Sovi­et Com­man­der of the Apol­lo-Soyuz mission.
