Expedition 45 Soyuz Commander Sergei Volkov of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and visiting crew members Andreas Mogensen of the European Space Agency (ESA) and Aidyn Aimbetov of the Kazakh Space Agency (Kazcosmos), and their backups, Oleg Skripochka and Sergei Prokopyev of Roscosmos and Thomas Pesquet of ESA participated in traditional ceremonies at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia on August 18. Afterward, they departed for the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to complete their training for the launch of Volkov, Mogensen and Aimbetov on Sept.2, Kazakh time, in the Soyuz TMA-18M spacecraft to the International Space Agency. Also featured is veteran Russian cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, the first human to walk in space and the Soviet Commander of the Apollo-Soyuz mission.
