The super­moon that occurred on Sun­day, Sept. 27 was the first in more than 30 years to hap­pen at the same time as a lunar eclipse. For more than an hour, Earth’s shad­ow dimmed the “larg­er-than-life” face of the moon. Wher­ev­er weath­er per­mit­ted, the occur­rence was vis­i­ble in the U.S. and much of the world, and NASA tele­vi­sion car­ried a live stream. This rare dou­ble celes­tial treat won’t hap­pen again until 2033.
