Maniac Pumpkin Carvers is a Brooklyn-based pop-up shop that started as a hobby but is now a pumpkin powerhouse.
Founded by Marc Evan and Chris Soria, the seasonal business specializes in time lapses, personalizations and live carvings. They’ve even had an annual showing at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Really want to get into this… I do the standard “cut eyes, nose and mouth out of a pumpkin” but these are so much cooler

Great content. Nice job @fluxintime
People are so much talented and are showcasing brilliant art. But sadly only a few are able to make it big. Proud & extremely thankful for the folks over at TheVerge for sharing this craft.

do they draw straight up what they want to carve on it first or do they put a piece of paper over it and poke holes.

That was awesome!
it looks awsome
congrats on your carving success! I’m a wax carver and can appreciate the hours of hard work! You have done some amazing pieces! I love them all!
You say in your video that there isn’t really a way to preserve the pumpkin for very long but that’s not really the case.I do advertisement pumpkins as well and the trick is moisture. Most of what makes a pumpkin shrivel up and rot is it’s constantly losing moisture through the cuts at an accelerated rate. I have my clients soak the pumpkin cut side down in water with just a little bit of bleach (1 tablespoon per gallon to keep mold and mildew away) when they don’t have it out on display.
Moisture flows from high concentrations (pure water) to low concentrations (dehydrated pumpkin) and will plump a dying pumpkin back up in no time. It keeps them looking new for a ridiculously long time. Depending on the amount of carved surface I’ve kept pumpkins alive and fresh for 2 months.
