CHEAP?!
The side by side comparison was useless because of how low the quality on the left was. wtf Verge.
“For 650 you get something cheap and affordable for the average consumer”
Hahaha what the fuck? the price of an iphone is cheap? what the fuck TheVerge
Casey Neistat!!!
im starting to question why i even watch the verge any more. THIS IS NOT A STABILIZER FOR YOUR SMART PHONE. This is a standalone camera. also, stop comparing it to a selfie stick. Its not even remotely close to one.
Comparing this to a “selfie” oriented feature is completely overlooking what the product is on a fundamental level.. And in regards to quality the Youtube compression is horrible and this review completely ignored the modular nature of the Osmo, for users looking to upgrade to a larger sensor with raw output you can buy the X5r.
That kid 😂😂
Gimbal is a magic
$650?! Damn! With the exchange rate here in South Africa at the moment that thing is gonna cost an arm and a leg!!! But what a awesome bit of kit! I really want one!
Perfect for vloggers!!
I understand that this is a portable device but why were you comparing it with an iPhone?
650$ cheap…
You did not do the Glidecam footage justice. It was deliberately shaky, and the poorest picture quality was chosen, probably 240p. On a different note, I thought the price was high until I realized it’s a camera and stabilizer in one.
I lov it💖
but the mic is a no go
Looks great! Looks much better than those GoPro stabilizers.
For $650 I would go out and buy myself the new flagship smartphone or a nextgen console with a monitor.
The Osmo’s test footage, at least as it is viewed on YouTube, looks way, way better then whatever professional gear they used. The Verge, step up your game and start using the Osmo to film everything! (Plus, your videos would finally be 4K!)
You forgot to test the camera in low light though.
@benpopper could you share your mic setup for this video.
its called a 3 axis stabilizer
this’ll be better if it has options for a 360/Sphere camera.
i’m so concern about the sound from the osmo. Did it loud or not?
i want to listen footage with sound from pure osmo.
Could you show me?
Such bullshit :/ sponsored as hell
I’d get this over a GoPro though
considering the quality, i can say this is a cheap one rather than buying a RED camera…
No one is talking about the how the mic picks up the motor noises from the gimbal also how the internal mic is terrible. All other videos I’ve seen the users have to use an external mic. This video must be sponsored. We want a real review not a sales pitch.
It’s for none of you tech fans. The people who comment first on The Verge aren’t here for the review but the video its self. None of you are in the market for something like this. But soon enough, people with intentions of buying will be on this video. And to these people, I promise, $600 is nothing.
CASEY!
I’d buy a new iPhone before i bought this thing
lanparte gimbal
could be a wrong, delusive comparison.…
I have no idea why you are comparing it to a “Selfie Stick”. That’s comparison makes no sense, It’s not a consumer product.
The market for this is for video creators, DSLR video shooters, Guys and girls that do web content, corporate and weddings. People that don’t have the budget to shell out thousands for a 3 axis system, but want a standard of video. $650 is very affordable compared to other products in that market. Not to mention it would be a great tool to mount to cars, bikes, skate boards etc. I’m sorry but the direction your heading for in this review is completely off
Awesome video! Can you please make gimbal with note5/s6 edge vs DJI OSMO in different conditions comparison. It‘s so interesting.
no mention about the absolutely unusable audio? Nearly bought one if I didn’t find out about that
great, but what about in an area with no wifi can you still use this?
Its not a fucking selfie stick dumbass
Ummm, The comparison was performed with low graded cameras. The Ronin with a mark 3 or sony a7 would have been so much better. The Osmo stabilization look great but the video quality look pretty snowy in HIGH LIGHT, This would be terrible Lo light situation which I’ll need it the most. I dont think this is a unit for the professionals
With medium sized hands I’ve come across a small problem for me. With phone bracket, accessory bracket, iPhone and Rode micro mic all loaded onto camera making heavier than ideal, the camera tends to slide downwards in my hand with the on/off switch being slid upwards unknowingly and switching the camera off. Now aware of this I now use two hands when reaching for front switch. If DJI could just turn switch 180 deg then the switch would never switch off by itself as it would have pressure keeping it on. I’m right handed.
I swear the comparison video was shot on a potato
So you burn through your wi fi data or just your power. Sorry, I’m old.
cool… I’ll wait till the chinese create a much cheaper and almost as good as version
What is the full charging time for the osmo??
Should one get DJI OSMO or smartphone gimbal like Feiyu G4 Pro which you use your phone as camera instead fixed camera like FJI OSMO?
650 is cheap?
I remember winning a camcorder 5–6 years ago, and while it could film in 1080p, the film was too shaky despite my best efforts. Spent $80 on a stabilizer a month back, and now it’s great for taking long walks and holiday footage. I’ve been looking to upgrade into 4K to satiate my hobby, and this seems like a good choice.
Good Job
