Google Instant Apps on Android are really fast

Google will let you run an app without having to install it. It’s surprisingly good and could change a lot of things when they release it.

How and when do you provide permissions to them?
So it didn’t ask for permissions like normal installation.… Nobody suspects the possibility of someone downloading malware onto their phone without knowing? That was one of the primary reasons that unverified apps installation is blocked by default on android phones.
iOS getting wrecked.
do we know the data usage?
The big news isn’t so much Instant Apps, but ChromeOS supporting Android apps. This will attract more people to the platform. That, coupled with cheap Chromebooks that are dead simple to use, speedy and require zero maintenance, will change the personal computing landscape over the years. Windows will become increasingly irrelevant to the consumer market, used only by corporate customers for legacy purposes. That is the real game changer.
They better start using it. No one likes a lazy dev.
mixed feelings about this feature. will the Android market become a streaming app service that you have to pay a monthly subscription for??? 😞
The best idea so far. I’m tired to have my memory full because of apps updates, plus most of the apps we have are in use too rarely to deserve 50 to 80mb on our phones. In the future, as long as you have a connexion, even a bad phone could be able to do anything.
imagine an app as a website. now imagine different sections of an app as webpages. you can share them like webpages but they run natively unlike webpages which doesn’t get much hardware access and frameworks. good stuff.
developers are now not dependent on app rankings and app recommendations. also instant apps are served through Google play store and services so no worries about malicious software. great new idea. better of both the words- Web
and apps. +1 for Google.
This idea is great. We don’t need to worry about use same user name and password to register too mamy account on different apps.
This may be the Android release that gets me. The only push I need to commit to this would be an Allo and Duo Mac app which I could use to reply to messages from my Mac (like with messages on Mac and iOS)
My main worry would be security like if someone could hack it.
can’t wait for Apple to copy it and say “innovation”
actually that is a great idea!! i have thought many times about this. we don’t want always download and install all these apps which we are using at one or two times 😀 Android is doing good work for their costumers.
so I don’t have use the stupid Facebook app for Android, which is the worst app in Android ever for crashes constant updates and infinite installation time and I just click on a URL of Facebook and get into the app?
Guys, I have found interesting app… It allows to use Android N Recent app swap feature on previous versions of Android WITHOUT root. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.orthur.appswitching
Does this leverage the core OS, or is this just using web technologies underneath? Seems to be a little bit crude in how it works
I’d be interested to see what kind of measures they are taking to make sure this is secure. I imagine that hosting the apps from google’s servers would mean not just anyone could exploit this, however, I am still skeptical.
We had websites, web apps, then came App Stores and asked us to install them. Now we are going back to actual web apps, just with a new name of instant apps. Yay. Well actually it seems better than sticking to the model of having to instal entire App instead of having same on a well maintained website.
powerful and simple grab whole world
How much mobile data will this use?
So it runs a program instead of installing it.
and the apps have to be very small or internet speed has be very fast.
this makes me think of Steve job’s idea of all functionality placed on the Internet, before apple’s board members convinces him to launch the app store
I know exactly what to do with a parking meter, there are these things called quarters!
The quarter, short for quarter dollar, is a United States coin worth 25 cents, one-fourth of a dollar. It has a diameter of .955 inches (24.26 mm) and a thickness of .069 inches (1.75 mm). The coin sports the profile of George Washington on its obverse and its reverse design has changed frequently. It has been produced on and off since 1796, and consistently from 1831 onward.[1]
Seriously, it’s sad when people can even bribe themselves into getting “excited” about some silly concept like this. Have fun with your teller tubies.
I’ll
Instant Apps: Websites that look like apps!
Instant Apps keep updating especially when I’m in a game is really annoying. It lags the game & gets me killed or lose. I don’t think my country use this. Why can’t it update when I’m not in a game? T_T
Nice video buddy.…
Ha apple lets see if you are being a copycat
Apple WWDC 2020

4 years later, with Apple introducing App Clips, I still haven’t seen a single Instant App.
