Why the UFC is worth $4 billion
[vid_tags]
This weekend the Ultimate Fighting Championship is celebrating its 200th pay-per-view fight card, and it’s been widely reported that it will announce that its parent company, Zuffa LLC, has been acquired for more than $4 billion. That’s a whopping increase from the $2 million the company sold for back in 2001, when it was banned from broadcast television and on the verge of bankruptcy.

SULTAN !!!!!!!!!!!!
ufc is not being sold and this video based off false reports
UFC got on the map after SpikeTV aired the first season of The Ultimate Fighter and its season finale fight with Forest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar pretty much went viral. That combined with cleaning up the sport by adding a lot of rules and regulations got them to be taken more seriously. Plus they had fantastic promoting, and regularly put on fantastic, entertaining, competitive fights and really transformed MMA from a exhibition performance into a legitimate sport
great video
Verge means edge.
Yet “What’s App” was bought by Facebook a few years ago for 22 BILLION…
To put that in perspective, Goodwill is worth 5 billion.
To add onto your point about how it adapts to entertainment, you can purchase its Payperview content on almost any streaming device. Most people are ditching cable and previously Payperview was only available on cable. Also, it helps that the UFC has major stars that cross over into pop culture media.
and his name is JOHN CENA!!!
Because its not acting!
You forgot to say that they treat their Fighters like modern day slaves.
So, UFC is worth only 1/4 of WhatsApp? How depressing is that?
Two minutes silence to all who came here to see Universal File System (UFS) by Samsung.
i mean him and dana white have said it in countless interviewa
China is buying up everything.
Great video👌🏼😋
nice video
This video tries to highlight the importance of technology that has only supplemented the UFC’s growrth once it had already boomed into the cash cow it is today. The UFC grew by their campaigns to get the company regulated all over the US and into foreign countries, as well as buy into lucrative TV deals. The sport cannot grow if no one can see it. UFC on TV = growth of sport.
You left out that UFC pay per view events are available on You Tube as well.
Control the media, control the world, profit. Simple as that.
UFC in a Nutshell: Conor Mcgregor.
Being a uk fan fight pass has been a great home for all the smaller organisations to live stream and allow events to be viewed on demand
Theres no way i would have ever of seen an australian based promotion called brace mma theve been some of the best fights ive seen
Why? The answer is me. and You. The Fans
is “The Verge” suppose to be tech reviewers…when did they start talking about finance???
its a strange world after all!
anyway UFC is not for sale, if it was, the buyer would be Vince Mcmahon
Sorry for going off topic, but will there be another history of operating systems video(like history of blackberry, history of windows phone, and updated variants of others)?
and so why?
Brock was a beast last night. Canadian bear.
Honestly, $4 Billion seems kind of low.. one big market NFL/NBA team is worth almost as much..
good prediction
