Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines controversy explained

This is SO unbi­ased. Don’t you all love how fair and bal­anced this jour­nal­ism is?

NONE of you who oppose the pipeline think about this in the larg­er con­text of doing this to avoid depen­den­cy on oil from the OPEC nations — who squab­ble amongst them­selves for pow­er, who act as a car­tel in oppo­si­tion to trade; prin­ci­pal­ly to manip­u­late the Unit­ed States. 

The US would hap­pi­ly pay fair mar­ket val­ue for the agree­ments in place with Oil States… pro­vid­ed they’d quit with the weapons of mass destruc­tion, using our mon­ey to threat­en the cre­ation of nuclear weapons to destroy Israel, and to invade neigh­bor­ing regions to steal land. 

A blithe on the his­to­ry of the US was the allowance of Iraq to attack Iran for a decade. We not only allowed it, we aid­ed them in the tar­get­ing of Iran­ian ves­sels. And when Iraq acci­den­tal­ly destroyed a US Naval ves­sel, we sup­pressed the cov­er­age. Sad­dam used chem­i­cal weapons on the Kurds — we said noth­ing in the US. We had no prob­lem with his acts of aggres­sion (even aid­ed him) until he invad­ed Kuwait. Sud­den­ly, he was a dic­ta­tor who’s aggres­sion would­n’t stand. 

Obvi­ous­ly, as we were also doing in Afghanistan against the rus­sians, using the mujahideen whom we armed, using oth­ers to fight in lieu of Amer­i­cans was attrac­tive. What Sad­dam failed to con­sid­er was that in attack­ing Iran, he was weak­en­ing a state whom we want­ed a revised rela­tion­ship with. Even if this meant the use of chem­i­cal weapons against them. We were buy­ing Iraqi oil and — Iraq sold oil on the glob­al mar­ket for dol­lars dur­ing the 80s and 90s. So even when he used chem­i­cal weapons on his own peo­ple, Amer­i­ca said nothing. 

How­ev­er, seiz­ing Kuwait, the 4th largest oil reserves at that time, would have giv­en Iraq and Sad­dam too much pow­er. Pow­er over a nation with whom the US already had an oil agree­ment with. 

The role the US has held in the Mid­dle East, is to main­tain the ten­sion between the oil nations, to keep them from hav­ing a monop­oly of oil reserves. Imple­ment­ing such a desire how­ev­er, covert­ly, is inad­e­quate on many levels. 

Hav­ing domes­tic oil suf­fi­cient to pro­vide our domes­tic needs is more than an eco­nom­ic issue. Research this from strate­gic institutions.

It does not take a genious to real­ize that we DON’T NEED jobs to sur­vive, evolve or trascend, we NEED and DESERVE LOVE and UNITY. We need to stand strong against those cor­po­ra­tions who want to achieve their super­fi­cial goal for­get­ting about the essence of life. Unless these pipeline com­pa­nies are giv­ing mon­ey away to Amer­i­cans (not just jobs) lit­er­al­ly hand­ing out mon­ey. Because it cost us, not them.

I can see both sides.…environmental impact ver­sus eco­nom­ic impact. But if the pipeline were going through YOUR land and has a spill con­t­a­m­i­nat­ing YOUR drink­ing and irri­ga­tion water, would you still sup­port it? Is the poten­tial envi­ron­men­tal dis­as­ter that wipes out your land and way of life worth the finan­cial ben­e­fit? I guess that will depend on why you ask.

Why should the US risk a huge oil water and land cat­a­stro­phe so Cana­da can take the cheap­est route through this coun­try so a few oil exec­u­tives and Cana­da can rake in all the mon­ey. This was a huge risk in the first place. Oil­sand costs a for­tune to mine and refine. But ten or fif­teen years ago when oil was 100 dol­lars a bar­rel it might have been worth it. But for the US to take all the risk for a few very short term jobs is defi­ant­ly not worth it.

Sure, Steal peo­ple’s Land. That and peo­ple who let allow it on their land. Dont know some of the Rules once it goes in. Can’t have any build­ings with­in 300 to 500 feet of it. Land own­er MUST keep the area cleared of all TREES, Bush­es Plants. Land Own­ers MUST mow the area too. Must Mon­i­tor the area and CHECK the area every cou­ple days. If Land Own­er does Not do this. Mas­sive Fines can be issued. in tunes of 100s of thou­sands of dol­lars is possible. 

FYI if Land own­er Home is already near the area, where the Pipeline will go. The Home Own­er MUST Destroy their HOME. Remove Their Home from the area.
