In the begin­ning, htc was the phone for enthu­si­asts, it offered flag­ships more than oth­er phones, that made it spe­cial and unique. I have had three flag­ships and two non-flag­ship htc phones. I’d under­stand when htc makes things like this evo as sim­ple side-series phones. On my 2007 htc Touch Cruise, the spe­cial part was that it had all the comms- 3,5G, blue­tooth, wifi, gps, FM you name it. Also a MicroSD-card slot, two cameras(front+back, was huge nov­el­i­ty at that time) and lat­est Win­dows Mobile. The very spe­cial part was a rotat­ing wheel, that made the phone­book and etc more usable with­out sty­lus. Anoth­er very spe­cial part was the Touch­flo launch­er that made using your fin­gers for touch pos­si­ble, while dialling a num­ber so that you did­n’t have to grab the sty­lus. All that in one phone was a tech­ni­cal mar­vel- no oth­er phone had all that. The next flag­ship was the Sen­sa­tion XE- it was the first dual-core phone and this ver­sion had the over­clocked proces­sor. It had inside-curved glass so that the glass would not break or scratch if it falls, is stepped on or sim­ply slid­ed face down on table. It had enor­mous pow­er and specs. Then after that I got M8s- it was a total fail­ure. By the time M8s came out, there was already M9. They got the specs wrong also. As M8 was a flag­ship, its spe­cial abil­i­ty was that it had the IR and Barom­e­ter. Also the Ultra­pix­el dual cam­era that was not such a suc­cess after­all. Some­thing extra you see. While M8s had the same specs, it was a fraud or a mis­take of some sort- there sim­ply was not the hard­ware on board the phone. It seemed like they just copied the spec­i­fi­ca­tion over from M8. It was a total ripoff. I was so angry. And it seemed like I was the only one that bought the phone or cared.I wrote reviews about this, hint­ed to all sites like the GSMAre­na. the lat­ter even did­n’t cor­rect their own specs on the site. htc cor­rect­ed the specs almost a year after the phone came out. It was a total dis­a­point­met in that part. Yet, the M8s still had a good cam­era and speed and a great pow­er man­age­ment. It did­n’t get very hot. There was one spe­cial part- the proces­sor had 4 fast cores and 4 slow cores. The low cores were used while the screen was of, giv­ing great bat­tery per­for­mance. Still, the bat­tery was not work­ing after one and a half year. Also the dot view case was a dis­ap­point­ment. It had frag­ile plas­tic cor­ners that fixed the phone to the case. so if you grabbed your phone from the pock­et and the cor­ner stuck behind some­thing, it broke. And it was avail­able for 35€. Trig­gered. Then I got the 10. Its a sim­ple phone but it has some spe­cial parts ICE view case, with bette,r flex­i­ble parts that do not break. It has the night view with warmer col­or tones after sun­set after Nougat update. It also has a nice all-met­al case and… noth­ing else actu­al­ly. I would like a thick­er phone. twice as thick, but with huge bat­tery. I would like that since its thick­er, the cam­era would have some optics so that more light would hit the sen­sor. I would like the phone to have IR blaster, barom­e­ter and maybe wire­less charg­ing. I don’t care about the thick­ness. why would I? I’m buy­ing a htc flag­ship- I want a fea­ture packed phone, not a spec that in real­i­ty does­nt give me any­thing. What is it about the thin phones? Why do we need them? It will fit in pock­et even if its three times the thick­ness. The bat­tery life is what is the most talked about sub­ject nowa­days. With that extra thick­ness we could have phones with bat­tery life of one week like the old NOKIA phones. We would have maybe the same thick­ness too, but we did have that back in the day and that did­n’t both­er any­one much. So why not? Why isn’t there a prop­er thick prop­er flag­ship phone out there? htc needs to make one and be rich again after that. It will sell. There is no doubt. Who­ev­er does it, I’tll be a sen­sa­tion. But I guess only if it is a true flag­ship. There are many large bat­tery gener­ic-spec phones. But no flagships.

A good review.. but who is this phone made for? I’ve got an HTC 10 and there is no plus to this phone over mine … okay I slight­ly big­ger screen but that’s it… nobody’s going to buy this phone I like HTC phones but I don’t know who decid­ed on this set­up …it’s dead in the water before it even went on sale.

Sam­sung, LG, even Nokia has small bezels, wtf is HTC doing wrong cause their bezels are big­ger than my old Galaxy s2 bezel.

OIC… This is a car­ri­er-spe­cif­ic hand­set (Sprint)… That explains the size and the out­dat­ed processor…

Lol I wish I was in Alas­ka right now. This phone does get warm. I don’t play games or use it while charg­ing so it’s no big­gie. Great review. Just what I would say about this phone. Still miss my m8 though.

This thing now just $190 in my coun­try and i just pur­chased it. Worth the price

What’s up guys! Need help! I bought this phone on eglob­al­cen­tral for about 120€. The prob­lem is, when the loud­speak­er turns off, it makes a “click” sound, dur­ing the day this is almost imper­cep­ti­ble but in very qui­et places it is annoy­ing. I’ll give you a exam­ple:
If I receive a mes­sen­ger text, the loud­speak­er needs to turn on in order to pro­duce the noti­fi­ca­tion sound and then it turns off, and when it does that, it makes that annoy­ing sound. My inter­pre­ta­tion is that the gain is too high per­haps. Do any­body here have the same prob­lem?
