1. root­ing your phone on mod­ern Android requires wip­ing your phone. so if you aren’t already root­ed, youre not going to recov­er much. 

2. the best way to keep your pho­tos or any­thing you care about safe, is to save it to your SD card, nev­er inter­nal mem­o­ry. if your phone does­n’t have an SD card you should look into get­ting a prop­er phone. 

3. also updates your car­ri­er can push can com­pro­mise your inter­nal stor­age as well. (look­ing at you note 4 AT&T Lolipop update)

A few years ago I want­ed to see what would hap­pen if you got your pass­word wrong 5 times on Android…I was­n’t hap­py with the results.

So in order to pre­vent restor­ing my data i need to fill my stor­age with some­thing to over­ride the data before for­mat­ting. then my data will be impos­si­ble to recover
