Oooo coatlin… Sounds fancy
RIP java
This is an excellent overview. I have been programming for decades (do you remember punch cards?) and have been through many new paradigms. Your explanation of the advantages of Kotlin has convinced me that there is time to try one more before hanging up my keyboard. Thanks and thumbs up from me. 🙂
… and then I looked at the comments below — there are some shallow trolls out there. Introductions are always that — introductions. If they covered the detail then you would lose your listener just to show how clever you are. You have the talent to make this topic accessible — well done and long may you continue. 🙂 🙂
I just wanna know what coatlin is
Look at this Kotlin Android application source code. It costs only 9$ https://www.codester.com/items/12941/password-manager-kotlin-full-project-android?ref=bgdlnchk
How do we pronounce kotlin?
WHAT IS THAT COMPUTER»>
For fucks sake just keep java. I get really pissed every time something like this happens. Like, why don’t they just modify java instead of creating a whole new language?
semicolohns
we want python on android
Its has been an extremely long time since I made desktop apps, started with VB6 and switched to Borland Delphi 7, that is my past experience, I never used java, for a personal app I want to make for my phone, would I be good for just learning kotlin? My app will involve a lot of working with what’s on the screen, doing lots of comparisons of selected screen regions saved as images, lots of individual timers, and more.
I can live with you saying coatlin but I hate that you said flavors of a program languages 🤢

More modern than java? Lol just that statement alone shows you have no experience.
I decided to choose Kotlin over Java because of No.6 NPE, I remember writing codes in Java and praying against NPE. imaging that.
5:08 is that minergate logo on the taskbar?
Great Content keep it up bro!
Try this game, developed with Kotlin:

Is he really big or is that laptop extremely tiny?
11. Independence from Oracle.
What’s the concurrency paradigm?
I have opposite opinion about no ‘;’ required. There are already languages out there that do not require ‘;’ but then the open source projects always recommend to end the line with ‘;’ regardless because it enhance readability.
coat-lin 🙂
Kotlin is a modern Java. It’s probably something that Google will push a lot instead of Java similar to how Apple is trying to replace C with Swift.
Business Opportunity in Ruvol
I have invented a Board Game [still unpublished and not yet out in the market] that I believe is guaranteed to be as challenging and exciting as CHESS. I called it “RUVOL.”
It is my hope that one day Ruvol may surpass chess as the “Number One Board Game in the World.”
The weakness of chess is it always starts in fixed positions that the opening moves become “memorizable.” In fact, not a few have so mastered the moves that they can play against their opponents “blindfolded.” It is for this very reason that the great Bobby Fischer introduced his so-called “Fischer Random Chess,” where the starting position of the pieces is “randomized” to make the memorization of openings impracticable. Fortunately, it is also for this reason that I invented Ruvol where “every game” has been calculated to be a challenging one to play.
HOW IS RUVOL PLAYED and HOW YOU CAN MONETIZE IT?
I detailed everything in my YouTube video. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcqth0m3-R0
BIG MONEY POTENTIAL IN RUVOL!
It is worthwhile to note that the people who play chess will be the same people who will play Ruvol. In my Google search, I learned there are around 800 million chess players in the world. Even just a small percentage of these 800 million is good enough to earn big money from Ruvol either as an ONLINE GAME BUSINESS or as a PHYSICAL PRODUCT DISTRIBUTOR.

Can i develope almost any app with Kotlin ?
Is kotlin harder to learn than java? I was having troubles learning certain aspects of java but when I started learning the basics of kotlin it seemed so much easier to grasp for some odd reason, but people say it’s much harder than java.
