Fitbit has just release its first official smartwatch, the Ionic, which follows last year’s Blaze fitness watch. At $300, how does it compare to other smartwatches (like Apple Watch), and is it better as a “smart” watch or as a fitness watch?
Here’s a link to buy the Fitbit Ionic:

I can’t even swipe the screen to the left. Does it matter what phone you have?
Ionic watch looks kinda futuristic…very cool imo. The dealbreaker for any sane person is battery life and you totally downplayed this at the end; The reality is, the Apple watch is advertised at 18 MEASLY HOURS with “regular use” whereas you can get 4~5 DAYS with the Fitbit Ionic. The Apple watch is such a joke on battery life alone… Not saying the Ionic is that great…only that the Apple watch should is not ready for prime time with that awful battery
I have had two in the past year and both stopped working and cannot be fixed. You will be sorry if you buy one.
The Elon space comment aged well!
Thanks
ok , i got my first ionic as a gift from my wife 18 months ago and loved it …at first . i got it and was annoyed at how difficult it was to just connect it up to my phone but i eventually got it connected and had no further problems and grew to love it . it was a great accessory to my walks and rides and really did encourage me to push myself . i put my trouble in hooking it up to my phone to me not knowing how to connect it and forgave the fitbit. fast forward 18 months and my ionics screen went black , it was still syncing with my phone and sending all details but i could not see a thing and could not even tell the time . i tried everything to see what the issue was and had no luck and i dont give up easily and had read on the internet about numerous issues with the fitbit . reluctantly i took it to the store of purchase and received a refund .
my wife knowing that my fitbit had died had already bought me another ionic and decided to give me an early xmas present so i tried to sync my ionic to my phone FOR 4 DAYS ‚over and over i tried, every single method ‚installing and uninstalling you name it , wifi ‚bluetooth, re-installing absolutely everything . I GIVE UP . its not often that anything electrical beats me but i paid good money for the fitbit and expected a smooth polished product , what i got was a tempermental beast that was difficult / impossible to set up and only lasted me 18 months . if it were not for the australian govt forcing fitbit to extend their warranty to 2 years i would have lost my money too as fitbit only wanted to offer a 1 year warranty. that being said when it works it works very well and i loved it
today i will be taking my brand new fitbit present back to the shop and buying another smart watch reluctantly , this fitbit was exactly what i wanted but just let me down and now i have no idea what to replace it with . PLEASE FITBIT SORT THESE ISSUES OUT . you have a good product but could make it a great product if you can just make them connect easier and last longer.
I personally luv my Fitbit Ionic it does what it was ment 2 do plus it has that vintage look and i luv it.…
The design is brilliant must better than boring iphone
There should be a Cinema sins video on this with an “apple watch” bonus round.
Am I the only one that would buy it just because of the cool 80’s retro sci fi look?
Hi! anyone can help me of my pitvit won’t work or won’t charge please..
I love it…it’s amazing watch..unique from others watch..looks different from other watch..
man, that design is awesome!
Don’t buy if u are a serious runner. No cadence monitoring and this watch pauses on you because they made the start stop button on the face screen.
Hmm. It looks a little overpriced for what it is. That’s just me though
SHE STICKS TO MUCH NEGATIVE ON HERE REVEIWS SHE STINKS!!!!!!!!
I’m a fitbit user. I don’t like that fact that NONE of the fitbits last for more than a year (looking at mine now…unable to use it). Something always goes wrong…and the connection to charge the watch itself…breaks. For $299…it seems weird to me to have smart watch WITHOUT options considered “common” in that price range AND pay more than the “common” price. Instead, the logic is to “buy-in” to limitations. Then the looks…and then the customer service which will send you a refurbished device at the drop of a hat cause problems happen just THAT often. I am a fitbit user. I keep buying up the line…but they are making some baaaad decisions on the back end and i’m considering jumping ship for something more durable for the LONG haul.
This is a fitness watch… Who cares about what apps you can get..
After owning a Garmin and now the Fitbit iconic. I think you doing a review about a Fitbit smart watch is probably the wrong move. This most definitely should be reviewed as a straight up fitness tracker. An amazing one at that. Way ahead of the game when it was released
Thank you is it compatible with a LG G4?

Remember me David Serpas Fitbit lonic silver smart watch steps everything good
This is the only one that looks good imo.
Notifications on the watch 😀 😀 Never understood this thing.… if u get so many messages than it is inevitable to use ur phone soon — according to the seriousness of the topic. On the other hand if u got just a few things a day it is not so important or u can respond to another time, which means u can check it later on ur phone. The only good thing in this opportunity are the emergency messages and let’s be honest.… real emergency messages happens not so often. So if it was a negative fact with this watch, u should not leave ur room where u got 3 or 4 monitors and u can check those really important infos that u get every 15 minutes.
I like the looks because it doesn’t look like an apple watch. I’ve had mine for over a year and love it.
I called FitBit and explained I didn’t have a cell. They said I didn’t need a cell to see the bike mode on this (I am in a wheelchair, but they don’t track wheelchair strokes…as far as I know). Was I lied to…because in every video, I see a cell. Also, I am in Canada, but do have a US iTunes account…will I be able to listen to music?
7:27…is she pushing.reviewing the FitBit…or the Apple watch? I actually have gotten that vibe throughout the video…which is SUPPOSED to be for the FitBit.

Please don’t buy Fitbit ionic . I bought for my aunt and just after two weeks , she suffered repeated electric shocks . Initially, I blamed the static electricity. But she keep complaining so I googled and to my horror , it’s true !!!! So many users complained in the Fitbit community, and even reported in the daily mail … as usual , bug companies don’t know what happened and blame static electricity… please don’t buy until you do the research and willing to take that risk
I wish you would have told me that the straps are so poorly designed the watch keeps falling off your wrist! I have is for 3 days and nearly lost it twice, bring back tomorrow.

Miss you Guys
don’t waste your $$ — the ionic quit working after a little over a year — worthless!
Battery drains in a matter of hours. Doesn’t last 5 days!
I like your delivery of linguistics. It was satisfying to listen too.
i had one, i did not like it
Wow this watch measures oxygen level in your blood. This is one of the key that people need to check for Coronavirus. Fitbit was ahead of the curve before anyone else. I like the way she said it checks oxygen but no one’s really right now and his video 3 years old. LOL
Then: “O2 sensor… isn’t really being used for anything just yet.“
2020: Covid-19 pandemic!
😬😅😂
fitbit ionic where the firmware update are so bad you cant use your fitbit ionic for a lot of months !
And when you can the garanty are out ! Thank Fitbit
I have a charge 4. But I want this one. I like the design more than the new styles
You CAN send short cut responses
Awesome review. this will replace my aging Fitbit Surge, which does everything I need it to do. One thing to note is that, the screen design makes it easier to add a screen protector. If it was curved, then the protector when not adhere as well. Being able to add a screen protector is very important to me so the Ionic fit my needs perfectly and the battery life is on par with my surge. I could care less about the trendy ability to receive and respond to text messages on my watch.. Meh.. over rated , lol.. Thanks again! Be safe
I dont trust her
Seems like I heard a lot of things it DONT do, more than it did…and for $300, I just dont know..I mean how hard can it be to use the bluetooth, to transmit to headphones or earbuds to have sound.
Why say it doesn’t have smartwatch features. You have to install the apps. And why base so much of the review of subjective aesthetics? I think the Apple watch looks even more hideous.
Get $300 back on the Fitbit recall. Fitbit was good when it was working but unable to sync after couple of years, good thing couldn’t use it before I got burn from the overheated battery.
I have had fitbit for the last 10 years. I am taking my $300 dollars and walking away from them. I am done. Fit bit doesn’t have a repair program. Do not get this product. Fitbit was purchased by google last year. Fit bit is dead.
