This guy is obviously being paid by Amazon. It is clear that the Home is way better and smarter than the Echo.

I’m assuming after initial setup thru your Smartphone, and Wifi… You don’t need to have your smartphone on whenever you use Google Home…right? Works thru Wifi?

If you have Google assistant on your android 7.0 and a bluetooth speaker you can turn it into a google home by going to your setting tapping on developement mode(Google how to activate developement mode), then click able screen always on while charging. As long as your phone is charging , you have Google assistant through your bluetooth speaker but you must say OK Google instead of Hey Google.

Not sure when this review was done but the Echo can distinguish between users and users voices.

I thought about getting this and giving away my Echo Dot, then Alexa added making call and texting, I don’t need Google. Specially after they ‘ve being censoring people on YouTube.

Just because Amazon started the trend doesn’t mean they will lead it forever. Just look at Apple and Samsung Apple has the lead right now but slowly the tables are turning.

I have both a DOT (for about a year) and a MINI (for about 2 weeks).. Hands down for me ? Google home mini. so much so I bought another one to replace my Dot.
First I will say that I did not buy either for music ability so i can’t speak much for that other than to me the Mini sounds better.
Also I have not yet had a reason for home control , but for the most part they both do that equally well.
My reason for the MINI over the Dot is…
    1) The Google AI assistant. As others have said and studies have proven it far exceeds the Dot or any other IA. And i have Assistant on my phone.
    2) The responsiveness.
With the Dot, you have to speak loudly and clearly. you have to state questions in a particular way, Syntax is important. It is like talking to an 80 year old man, and lots of my questions are not answered.
The MINI on the other hand is awesome . I have it mounted on the opposite wall in my bed room, I can be in bed, back turned and mumble a question like “hey Google what time is it” and i will get an immediate answer. syntax is not as important as it is with Dot. I was in a front room (2 rooms a way from mine) and said “hey google” in a conversation and the MINI beeped waiting for a question (someone near my room reported this to me) .. and a Biggie! if the alarm is going off or music is playing. you can still ask it questions or tell it to stop and it will.. the Dot on the other hand is almost impossible to get it to listen to a command when it is playing anything, it is easier to walk over to it and push the stop button.
The Mini now also has a Male and Female voice option that can be changes simply by asking it to change.

I went with the echo dot for the reason of connecting it to my fire tv stick with a harmony hub, as well as connecting it to my Onkyo surround sound and smart tv.
After hours of trying to pair the fire stick and dot I find out that pairing in the UK isn’t available.
So thinking of switching to the google home, I get the impression amazon rely on third party apps too much where as google has produced the majority by them selves.

Does anyone know if I will need a chrome audio if I’m using a harmony hub?
