You can now install the Google Pix­el 2 launch­er on any phone. Check it out on the Galaxy Note 8, com­plete with S Pen, Bix­by and edge screen func­tions intact.

The Pix­el 2 launch­er will work on all phones run­ning Android Lol­lipop and above, but with the best fea­tures reserved for those run­ning Android 8.0 Oreo (noti­fi­ca­tion dots and the abil­i­ty to change app icon shapes aren’t avail­able with­out Oreo).

To install the launch­er, down­load the APK from the link below. If you just want the launch­er and don’t mind NOT hav­ing the Google app on the far left screen, allow Unknown Sources and just launch the APK. 

How­ev­er, if you DO want the Google app home screen, you’ll need to install the launch­er as a sys­tem app on a root­ed device. 

You can either flash the zip file from the link below as a sys­tem app via TWRP, or do it your­self (see below).

Grab the APK: 

To install the launch­er as a sys­tem app man­u­al­ly, sim­ply move the APK from your down­loads fold­er to /system/app using a file man­ag­er like Sol­id Explor­er. Once you’ve moved the APK, long press it and go to Prop­er­ties, where you need to change some read/write per­mis­sions, like so:
User: R, W
Group: R
Oth­er: R
Apply the changes and reboot your device. You’ll now have the Google app screen on the far left home screen of the Pix­el 2 launcher.
