The por­trait modes on this year’s flag­ships all look pret­ty unre­al­is­tic. Actu­al bokeh is a prod­uct of shut­ter speed, focal length, dis­tance to subject,sensor size, and some oth­er fac­tors. The back­ground blur should­n’t be forced so aggres­sive­ly like I see it done recent­ly. That said, the Pix­el 2’s cam­era sys­tem is a lot better…they just need to con­tin­ue improv­ing the por­trait effect to make it more realistic.

Com­par­ing it to the Pix­el 2’s self­ie por­trait which is also in Beta, this one looks shit. I don’t know what sor­cery Google does with Pix­el 2’s cam­era, it is so extreme­ly sharp and detailed that the com­pe­ti­tion almost look bad in front of them

The por­trait mode on the front looks real­ly bad. Hair, hats, egdes (it’s real­ly bad on the black shirt) are blurred out too. Needs a lot of work on the next updates to become usable.

Not a fan of the front fac­ing cam. Maybe it will get bet­ter with soft­ware updates.

I have a stu­pid ques­tion but, how come when I block the sec­ond lens on the bot­tom and the left speak­er, it doesn’t work? Like, when I block the sec­ond lens only, the image is still clear, it doesn’t pop up as black as I planned the test to turn out when u cov­er a lens. Same thing with speak­ers. Cov­er­ing the right speak­er muf­fles the sound of course but, why not with the left? No sound comes out of the left speak­er, why is that?
EDIT: the sec­ond cam­era is fine but the left speak­er is still not func­tion­al?
