Vergecast Live! Net Neutrality 2017 Thanksgiving madness
The Verge,Verge,#hangoutsonair,Hangouts On Air,#hoa
The FCC decided to bury the news about its plan to end the Net Neutrality rules in the middle of Thanksgiving week here in the US. But that won’t stop Nilay, Paul, and Dieter from doing a Vergecast. This is going to be rough and ready and — after all that turkey — a little weird. Tune in!

Thanks for your coverage on this topic during your holiday guys. You were able to make the background on net neutrality issues and what the Pai document means in layman’s terms for the US crystal clear to understand for us Europeans! Liked that both supporting and opposing perspectives were presented in this civilized discussion!
Shouldn’t Google Hangout view the current speaker automatically or something? Why does it often stay for long periods of time on someone who doesn’t say anything while another one is speaking??
Have experts for anti Net Neutrality ON! Then maybe you can inform yourselves. For all the talk about Pai not having conversations with with people on the other side (which are warranted) you guys only have Paul, fine but he is not an expert by any means.
This really is a philosophical conversation to have between pro-regulation (interventionist) and anti-regulation (libertarian/free-market).
paul doesn’t disagree with net neutrality. he lives in a world of fiction where he disagrees with it.

Plez don’t do this ;-;
Paul is probably watching too much Stefan Molyneux..
Period strip ultimate xgoegd juice horrible tap motivate planning approximately drop.
Wow excellent show
Ppl don’t have choose. If there was 100 ips in one location. I be fine to give more power to iso. But there literally majority of locations in this country is one. It similar to airports when the flight beat a guy in the plane and kick him out for doing nothing. Ppl said they will not used the flight and what happen nothing. Sales for that airport slightly went up. Reason is some areas ppl are stuck. They have to take it instead go to a different flight
audio version?
Thank you!❤️
Could ajit pai then kindly point me to telecommunication service commonly available to the public? There is probably not a single provider right now who doesn’t in one way or another transforms a point to point connection to some sort of data…
I can happily live without my providers cache or DNS. Ajit is there a telecommunications provider in the US? Not one? Boy how pathetic a first world country that defined its telecommunication network away basically a farmer in rural Namibia with a cable tv. Or will you enforce companies to offer just that? Ajit point to point connection simple telecommunication where do i get it?
. Now downloading Vergecast with PocketCast. Thanks. Title II is good for the customer and the internet.. Cable and Telcos companies should not be making the rules or be the gate keepers of the internet.. It is just greed and commercial Anarchy.… Regulations for the good of the people and an open internet is not the problem. A little about myself. I have worked in Pure Research, the Public Service, Information Technology Companies including Microsoft, in the Banking and Finance Industry and as a consultant since the 1980’s. In the 1980’s was using AARNET with Telnet, Gopher, FTP in Unix and VMS before the Browsing the Web was a thing. I have seen the Internet grow and thrive I do not want to see Mr Pai and corporate greed destroy this beautiful thing we have made together. Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.
We have the upper hand, we can stop our internet service, if net neutrality is revoked and our IPS providers start making it much more costly for us to use the internet. We did it with cable tv. ones their was a mas exodus they dropped their rates. enough said. We just have to be smart enough, persevere to the point they lower their rates. Meanwhile you can use someone else’s Internet, use computers in public libraries and/or use the free WI-FI at your local coffee shops or food courts etc. We don’t have to pay their high rates, it’s up to us.
Net neutrality has existed since 1934 What happened in 2015, was that in order to net neutrality to continue, the Internet had to be declared a public utility and that is what that document did.
I don’t think that there is a really good argument against net neutrality but Paul is particularly bad at making one. It all boils down to government bad for him. I’m sorry but life is way more complicated than that.
55:29 Paul says that repealing net neutrality encourages innovation. Can anyone explain how this is supposed to work?
EVERYBODY ON THE STREETS WE NEED TO SAVE NET NEUTRALITY
Obviously they want to do it because of three things, money and censorship, and control
