Smartphones have great cameras these days, but we wanted to know which one has the best. So we took five smartphones released this year — the iPhone X, the Pixel 2 XL, the Galaxy Note 8, the HTC U11, and the LG V30 — and pitted them against each other in a variety of real-world situations to find out. And the winner might surprise you. Subscribe:

Google deep mind Ai software on the pixel 2 needs snr and 24 bits which billion of colour to work better. Also white balance on temputure from 1000 to 10,000 with custom. build in medium grey. Color check profile build in the software with ability to use the real world colour check.
Man, that guy on the right speaks way too much. Give some room and some respect to the guy you invited to evaluate the photos. It would have been a much better video if the expert on the left could give some more in-depth reviews while the one on the right just leads the conversation…
Pixel better
could have add Huawei Mate 10 Pro with AI (NPU)
Very few people are going to buy the htc11,but many people may be interested in the one plus 5t’s camera…You should have had that phone in your shootout list…
Touch to smooth zoom on V30. SUPER USEFUL
I have a family full of iPhone and note users, when we’re all together and it’s picture time. Everyone looks at me and says, let’s use your phone, it’s the better camera. Pixel 2 XL, is just a beast.
This video could have done with some more editing!
Now this is what I call objectivity. Would’ve been great if the mate 10 pro was included.
I am glad that you addressed camera launch speed and auto focus quickness but if there is anything more to say about that with these phones, it would be great to hear. Most of my photos are when I have yanked my phone out of my pocket to take a quick photo usually in low light. This gets even more problematic as a phone ages and it starts to lag when launching the camera app.
huawei mate 10 pro was not included for it may OUT-SHINE everyone.
Fantastic review, thank you!
Pixel ===> Htc ===== iPhone =====> other
I love my iPhone X but the wide angle on other phones are great!! I like the camera on Pixel.
You’ve missed Huawei mate 10 Pro
Photos uploaded to Google Photos from iPhone looks worst than original. Thankfully I have Flickr backup. In the end does not matter, they are just a pixel memories, they just need to be shared at the moment.
I like the iPhone for many options in creating photos using apps, and stock apps also come with Panorama, Live Photos, etc.
Honestly at this point the cameras to me look equally as good. I can barely test the difference.
Why was the Huawei Mate 10 not tested with this?
Thank you so much for this video. You guys are awesome.
James Bareham watch?
This is another level of review, insanely good
iPhone and pixel ! King and queen of the show
Great video, you should do this kind of thing more often. You were however mainly focused on the Pixel and the iPhone. There were times when the V30 did the best but wasn’t really spoken about.
Next one include the Mate 10 pro
So the iphone shots warmer pictures.. Can you fix that in colour balancing and mak ethem cooler?
Note 8!!!
More with James, I really like him!
Huawei Mate 10 should be on the list instead of LG V30.
I own Huawei Mate 9, Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X. Those three are of the best of the best out there, but Huawei-Leica produce the best color according to me, and that’s on last year Mate 9.
I want more comparisons like this!
Could the young guy just let the man speak for one second!
How about sony xperia xz premium ? I think that so good!
Why oh why is there not a reference image from a professional camera! Seriously.
The professional camera guy says it all. “I’m most cases the pixel 2 is the most neutral”. Therefore is the most accurate in colour.
In my opinion, the HTC wins here. It takes a more natural photo that is very close to capturing exactly what you see in that moment in time. Sure it might not be the sharpest of the bunch but the images just look more real.
Poor old guy, the guy keeps interrupting him while he is talking.
What are we doing here? Splitting hairs? They all look good in their own ways. It’s totally subjective.
This was so awkward 😂
I like this series. Please do more! iPhone X Vs Huawei P20 pro Vs Pixel 2xl Vs Samsung galaxy S9+ Vs LG G7 ThinQ .… Please please please please!
Well, if the cameras are so similar that you can only tell the difference side by side, then does it really matter?
verge can u make video of best phone for selfi
I think the Pixel 2 provides a better image for post-processing. It levels out the highs and lows more evenly, providing an image that can then be taken into an image editor like Lightroom, VSCO, etc. and give you a better starting off point.
Good Video, but I have a note 8 and i haven’t seen something like a blur effect or that the note wash the photo out
update of this pleeeeaaaassseeee
