Reality is most people will install this in front of a plain drywall wall without showing off the translucent display at all. And the wall will probably have holes or unfinished paint from where the previous thermostat was. It’s probably a good addition to some new, super contemporary home though.
It’s futuristic as Black mirror!
Looks like Stark Tech
SAMSUNG GALAXY GLASS
How about using that transparent screen on mobile phones.…
Can someone just make a window out of this tech. It would be a lot more useful
Why would I ever need to ask my thermostat what the weather is?
Things like google home where it literally only has an assistant and nothing else are a bit annoying. We need stuff like this where its just a normal thing you need anyway but it conveniently has cortana in it
WTF.…… When he said hey cortana at the end…The cortana in my laptop started listening XD
I really liked seeing this
“Translucent Display” is all I freaking care about at this point. We’re finally 100% in the future I’ve wanted to be in. I hope translucent displays come around more often.
great product
I’m selling a domain name thermostat.ai
ai = Artificial Intelligence
Lag is real
THAT display is part of the future! The huge black bezels are out. Wish they would stop making products with them.
That delay is a killer.
Here comes another one to kill itself
Hey cortana??
ummm ummm ummm ummmm ummmmmmm
they should add a feature so that it can detect things like smoke and if there is say a carbon monoxide leak
The second he touched the screen and the lag was evident the magic was completely gone
Looks great, but how much have smart thermostats improved people’s homes? 🏘 📟 💨
Hey Google, I need a thermostat. Not nest. 🙂
Cool but bixby might be better..
“A really cold city ehhh New York”
That lag though. I’d definitely wait until the 2nd or 3rd gen if the final retail one behaves like that. Or, better yet, I’d get a Nest.
This is probably the only established looking futuristic device on ces..
I want a phone and tablet with that display
Beautiful hardware and UI, but that LAG tho
that lag tho
Cortana also comes with the Azure Cloud which is a big part of this thermostat. It uses it to work out the most efficient way to heat/cool the home. Also this particular one is laggy because it’s a prototype and it’s at CES so internet connection is limited. Simple as that.
That translucent display is the only steal in this one. Would be great if real life applications made great use of it, though.
The translucent screen is neat, but it has a response time of 2 or 3 seconds without giving the user any feedback.
Priorities…
This dude’s reviews need subtitles or he needs to enunciate. Jesus.
Мне очень понравилась эта вещь! Очень хотел бы такую.
Can you control this unit while you are away
Dat lag doe
This is so cool.
Damn, that screen
why no app for ms phones or win 10 tablets??
Cortana?! how can I Ctrl Alt Del?
Love the design. Played with one of these at the microsoft store and I can confirm it’s bit laggy. Although no so much that it’s not functional. I just wish there were other smart home features you could program into it to make it more practical
Does this work in the UK
No doubt about it, it looks cool. However, never buy one on Friday. I got mine on Friday and followed the simple instructions to install, but it didn’t work. I called the nice people at customer service (the number is in the directions) and they told me what to do. I did what they said and that made no difference. I called back but they were closed for the weekend. Saturday morning my house was 47 degrees. Sunday morning, today, it was 42 degrees. I hope tomorrow isn’t a holiday. Some say that the price of the thermostat is a bit high. Not me, I think it’s cheap for a good case of aggravation and a chance to find out how it feels to be an Eskimo. Stay tuned for Monday’s episode.
Read my first comment below first. Monday, bright and early I called Glas and told them the results of my work. They were very sympathetic and offered to send me a new one. I, of course, accepted their offer and I’m waiting for the new thermostat to arrive.… Today is Tuesday and no thermostat. I have high hopes. I was able to connect the old thermostat and it’s better than nothing. More later
