Damn 3 years too late.
What a lame review
Tmobile sucks, always does
I am one of those people who have ditched smartphones. I am using a feature phone now. This feature is perfect for me…
Is the LTE better than Thinkpad X1 carbon?
I would just carry a $90+ mobile MIFI and connect my Surface, my wife’s notebook, my mom’s iPad and my kids game.
5 minute video about the Microsoft Surface, 2 minutes of which Apple is discussed. and BTW, that keyboard IS backlit, it’s easy to find the brightness key on the keyboard.
i got Surface Pro with me, then it wasn’t mobile enough for me then i bought iPad Pro 10″. Now, thats a mobile beast for sure and Surface Pen is not much better than Apple Pencil in terms of Note taking and design. iPad Pro’s battery life and performance not disappointing me. Then i found my Surface Pro as a great replacement for my old 2010 laptop
Good video! ✌
This was horrible… It was sad lol. I actually like watching CNET but man, this was eh… Also I’m not sure if the guy getting “interviewed” was an expert or representative but he didn’t seem to know much besides where the SIM card is located.
does this mean that i can take my ATT sim out of my S8 Plus and put it in the surface and use my ATT data plan?
You would think they would have updated the processor to new 8 gen. I like the separate device with LTE, save my phone battery. The price is to high for what you get in this device. But I would still like to have one.
In our engineering firm, we have survey and inspection field staff where this makes sense and we have ordered two LTE Surface Pros. We tried LTE iPads but the file structure issues were limiting factors. We have Verizon jet packs as well but battery life won’t get you through a day so they are constantly swapping batteries. We’ll see how things go.
They didn’t even test the LTE..
no way …giving extra $$ for using LTE isnt jsut cool , yes it gives you 450 Mbps which is lot more than your any mobile phone present today … but still not getting a dial-er and just putting it into your phone dosn’t mean right , better make a surface phone and give these super powers to it, may be people will enjoy(and yes give the google play store…)
Thanks for your review, and yes, this is something I look for and am glad to see coming online now, in addition to the Ipad. Finally! Not everyone uses or needs this, but you can say that for ANY feature, so why some are knocking it, as well as your review, in the comments, surprised me. Using my LTE enabled Ipad when I’m traveling, for example, gives me much bigger (=more readable!) and more precise maps than my car’s GPS, making it easier to see and plan a route, and see what else is around where you are now, than you can possibly do on a phone screen! as far as using a hotspot vs lte, with the lte, I pay a reasonable amount extra per month on my phone bill and get a decent amount of extra data on my plan — and — don’t have to deal with having my phone nearby for a hotspot, which also uses my phone’s battery. I liked the information in the interview, and as with ANY review, I still have more questions and research to do, but it was a good overview. I would like to know how the LTE compares with the IPad, for instance.
😁😁😁😁😁😊😊😊😊🙂🙂🙂🙂🙃
Yes I will pay more if the laptop or surfacepro will be able to make phone calls and texts.
I’ve been using a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 4G w/4G LTE connectivity for years now, both on T‑Mobile and now on Cricket (for my circumstances Cricket is a better plan). My internet service here at home is extremely fast (I use Google’s hi speed modem service), but everywhere else I’m using Cricket for primary connectivity. It’s very fast, and provides uninterrupted service just about everywhere I normally go. If you’re going to be flying, I’d urge you to use T‑Mobile, and fly by United. The reason for this is simple, your T‑Mobile service will provide you with free internet connectivity while on the plane. Would I buy the Surface Pro today? The answer is no. It’s not that the Surface Pro isn’t a good tablet, but the primary considerations for me are that I have a wonderful tablet that serves me very well, and the second being that I don’t drive anymore, and find that doing my research, watching a lecture, saving, or retrieving files, etc., while on the bus, TRAX, or train, I have no problem maintaining connectivity, plus the idea that I don’t have to constantly be asking for modem passwords that could potentially compromise my security, etc.. Sometimes going through a tunnel I will briefly lose my connection, but this is rare. If I had to buy a new tablet I might be tempted by the Surface Pro but honestly, it’s cost prohibitive. I recently managed to have my Samsung get soaked as someone accidentally spilled coffee in my bag. I looked in line, bought another tablet like mine at a very nice price, took my SDcard and my SIM card out of the old tablet, placed them in the new one, visited Cricket for five minutes, and with the exception of some exclusive programs where I needed to contact the developer, I had duplicated my tablet within about two hours from the time the replacement came in the mail. I just can’t afford to turn my back on something that works so flawlessly, and can be duplicated so easily, even in times of disaster.
I absolutely will.
Finally a windows 10 tablet with LTE thank you microsoft and qualcomm.
where can i purchase that wallpaper?
I heard this wont work with Verizon lte. Is it only tmobile compatible?
Yes, I would pay extra. I will only buy laptops/Tablets with LTE capability. I have that feature on my Elitebook and it spoiled me having instant internet at all times regardless of location. It’s like multiple screen monitors. You do not know you need them until you use them.
where can i buy lte version of this?
Surface is higher price so Microsoft doesnt compete with its partners
Yes, I would pay for LTE in a Surface Pro 6.
I don’t understand why LTE connectivity is presented in such a hyped up way as if it is a big deal? Sony Vaio P tiny laptops had 3G connectivity just like LTE a decade ago.. Nowadays this should have been already a “default” option in almost all electronic devices.. Sighs!
Definitely need Cellular with laptop! Too many schools, hospitals, government facilities, are not allowing access to their wifi. SO you need cellular to use your laptop. Sometimes when you use your phone’s personal hotspot the connection gets lost. So cellular is best.
Thanks a bunch, you answered a lot of crucial questions about Surface LTE for me, which I am considering buying. Unfortunately the video is 6 years old! However, if it works well, I would be perfectly happy buying an older model.
