Blowing into cartridges. The practice has basically been around as long as video games have existed — almost like a magic formula. Cartridge isn’t working? Blow into it, and it’ll work again. But does it actually help? Circuit Breaker reporter Chaim Gartenberg reports.

I still have my NES that I bought online like 8 years ago. Had to do the hack where you snap off a pin connector from one of the transistors and it still works although I haven’t played it in a while
lies!!!! From the pit of hell!!!
This video would be amazing. 30 years ago
No. Do not tell me what to do. I will blow into my Gameboy Advance Cartridges because that is part of the experience of owning a Gameboy Advance. Do not tell me what to do. /endrant
Doesn’t matter every single one of my games still works so shut up
Your mouse is facing the wrong way, silly tech reporters
You’re about 30 years late on that one buddy

Awesome Video & We 💜Love the Content What Do You Think Guys? 😘From TECHSFORMERS
the most pointless video of 2018 so far… good job Verge 👍🏽
YOU ARE TELLING ME NOW?????
Maybe it is good tip, but does anyone still play these old consoles?
if Chaim is playing the original NES with a regular good old CRT TV with the RF connector, why the hell is the output in a square format instead of 4:3??
jew mad?
This video is so redeeming. I have been saying this all my life. I noticed the usual fix was to nudge the cartridge and try again. My buddy had this comical process of blowing as hard as he could, then three taps on his leg. Hilarious.
Blew on my Atari 2600, Intellivision, and Commodore 64 cartridges long before the NES came out. As of a couple of years ago, they were still working, so obviously my breath didn’t kill them.
I blow my mans cartridge. Is that bad?
So dust or dirt can’t cause the game not to be read? If they can then blowing would in certain cases help. You asked one side instead of actually testing of dust can or can’t stop the game from working. This is the laziest journalism I’ve ever seen
Why do you have a towel on your head
Exactly
I found out breathing on the game rather than blowing into it worked better. the moisture from your breath helped make better contact. of course later on I learned how to properly clean cartridges so I never have to blow into them now
Too late. I already did this- and still do- all the time.
I knew this was never good for my games, but if it didnt boot after 5 tries, I’m blowing into it, and afterwards it works.
Cartridges is still a thing the past 10 years, DS, 3DS, PS Vita, & Switch
Even if it didn’t, Never mess with the placebo effect.
Blu-Rays are mainstream now for physical video game copies btw.
People on the comment section are so ignorant
Every time I blow the cartridge I always want a cigarette afterward. Ba dum tsss.😝
Wrong. The moisture from your breath gives better conductivity to the metal contacts and can remove small amounts of new dust; it’s not good for the long term because of corrosion, but it does work. A better method is to just use Q‑tips and a high % isopropyl alcohol to clean the pins.
This video is full of lies and scandals
Say what you want but it worked EVERY time. Never had the problems with later consoles.
Just in time for the cartridge generation…
still going to
I still remember i used to blow them all the time as a kid i am a 90“s kid myself
I’ll use my Desktop mini leaf blower then.
bullcrap, i tried just reseating the cartridge, blowing definitely makes it better
Actually, my old copy of majoras mask didn’t work until I blew on it. I tried inserting it like 10 times, but it only worked once I blew on it.
i found inserting the cartridge just enough to make the ‘elevator’ go down was my go-to fix.
It was a mental fix. We felt like it worked. Taking it out and re inserting a 10x drove u nuts. At least you got some kinda of mental release blowing into the cartridges 😂
I used to put it in the freezer and clean it with alcohol
The only way my pokemon blue works is to blow into it every time so how do you explain that?
Of course it worked. Every person who actually owned an NES knows that this worked. Stop trying to gaslight us.
Bro i used to run water on my ds games when they didnt work 💀
I don’t know man, I tried not reinserting my game many times and it didn’t work.
Blew it once and bam… it works.
Stop blowing your cartridges. What other out dated warning you gonna give in present tense? Tilt the hanger to the left so your tv could work ?
As much as this sounds valid. I don’t know about you all, but I’ve never seen a rusty game cartridge. Sorry but I don’t think simply blowing on a game will cause damaging condisation to the game as implied on this video
That’s not what a Placebo effect is lol.
Why has he got a piece of paper on his head?
This video will not stop me from blowing into cardridges, because it proved to work.
