Have we reached peak smartphone? How satisfied are you with your current smartphone? When will you upgrade and why?
Great video more please. Also I think for most people even a budget smartphone is enough for pretty much every thing. It’s really hard to justify the expense of these high end phones now. For me battery should be paramount. We need more phones that can for days.
Ridiculous battery life. That’s what it would take, where I could get through 2 days as a power user.
I am seriously considering going to go back to a dumb feature phone. Ditching the smart phone all together. I am trying to cut back on social media I have a laptop why do I really need a smart phone?
There is just no need to upgrade phones that often anymore. Heck, if it wasn’t for the issue of battery life, and the non removable nature of most phone batteries today, I probably would upgrade like once every 3 years. I currently upgrade every 2 years or so, primarily, due to battery life issues. Batteries start to degrade over time, making it necessary to upgrade (something I hate). I bought a Sony Xperia X in July of 2017, about a year after the phone came out, and only paid $240 for it. I kept that phone until last week, May 2019, where I now upgraded to a LG V30. My Xperia still worked great, very little lag if any, perfect for all day-to-day needs, but the issue was the battery life. Not only did that phone originally come with a pretty small battery, but after 2 years of use, it became an issue to get through a full day of moderate usage without having to charge it. If I could easily buy a $10 battery online and swap it, I would have kept that Xperia as my main phone for at least another year.
Smartphone dummypeople
this brings up a very interesting question but yeah with smartphones where do we go next because idk whats next for the future of smartphones and i do not think anyone knows right now lol.
okay so for me i think one big factor that comes up is well when your phone more or less breaks down and or a better plan comes out.
I’m sure that it could get better.…..having more water proof phones, stronger glass, more responsive phones.…that’s what I would like.…..I have 2 years with my galaxy s8, I factory reset my phone and it runs like new.….I’m happy with it, I’m not thinking about getting an s10 5G.
i have an s4 any phone is an upgrade
Alcatel devices are pretty darned good, for sub $100 devices.
Battery. That’s it.
All these new GIANT phones SUUUUUUCK!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me a phone i can use with ONE hand!!! Put worthy tech in it, don’t give me a new phone that can’t do what my old phone could!! BE CREATIVE FOR A CHANGE!!
I’m a pretty rare case. I still have my iPhone 4S since it came out (2012).
- I can still make / take calls
- I can still play music
- I can still take good quality photos and videos
- I can still browse the internet
- I can still use social media
- I can still use WhatsApp
- I can still use Discord
etc.
I’ll still be able to do all of these things on a new £1000+ phone. The camera might be a bit better. My apps might load a bit quicker. So what? The market has become over-saturated. Phones nowadays cost so much and depreciate in cost rapidly. If you want to buy a new phone the smart thing to do is to buy last years flagship model. It’ll probably cost half of what it did last year and perform similarly to the latest flagship.
This the Birth of “Lew Later”?
There’s only one truth about smartphones and that is they’re a waste of money and they will never make you happier. My phone is a smartphone and it cost me $30 at a dollar store. It does everything else a $600 phone does and it only cost me 30. The only thing a phone needs to do is call people text people and maybe browse the internet.
It’s like you have been watching me lol I have Two phones one mostly for work calls and one private the work phone is my old private phone that I got 5years ago it is an HTC one M7 and it does what I need and more the second is my main phone that I play games on you and do everything from edit pics to sending emails and that is an HTC One m8 I do not buy a new smartphone just because there is a new model out when I buy stuff I buy stuff that lasts firstly and secondly something that has a technological advancements that justifies it I have rooted my m8 and I have Android O in it what am I missing out on nothing I have a recent android version and all the apps I need the only thing new phones can differ in is slightly better camera or slightly this or that I’m not impressed with the miniscule changes and their subsiqently over priced tag…
Graphene batteries.
what series is that new balance Lu?its pretty slick.
Those smartphones are asking too much for there phones now days. 800 bucks is my cut off 1200 bucks phone, I rather buy a laptop.
This is why I buy samsung. They seem to be innovative. but that is because they also have the best…well…advertising — information about their innovations. I do not have time to google every phone or feature or comparison even. I wish I found your reviews a bit sooner. I was unaware of other s‑pen featured phones and would not even know where to get them. Now I do know, but also — I need more user review on anything I am about to buy. I am in my 60’s and for me to go to a completely different looking skin — it gets confusing. It gets bad enough when I switch phones lately — having to get used to new things and even different icons or simply where they are. Thankfully switching is only when I buy a new note. The older a person gets, the less plasticity the brain has and old habits die hard. Many of us baby boomers are into smartphones and other tech, but the market knows we won’t be here forever and they gear their products and features to younger people. Some of the stuff for senior citizens is just awful and more confusing for them. They hate hearing “it’s so easy!”. I tried teaching a simple flip phone to my mother in law and she could not understand the concept of answering yes or no to the question on the screen, and the way that phone was set up, it WAS confusing.
Using Asus zenfone 2 (4gb ram/64th), is now 3.5 year old, replaced battery once and now time for second battery replacement. Cracked front glass but luckily touch is still working since 1 year, just using transparent cello tape instead of using any top glass protection, tape just needs changes after 3–4 months. Never seen major issues in daily usage.
It would take a company that will custom build them to the customers specs. I wish I could order a phone the way I want it.
A battery that lasts all week and a phone that doesn’t scratch will be a game changer! Maybe some weird virtual reality one as well
A camera that has near same quality as some high end DSLRS, extreme battery life I’m talking a full day with constant use, a terabyte of storage, sapphire screen, a headphone jack, and louddddd speakers. Will that ever happen though?
I got bored. Looking for knowledge
Yes yes yes it iS and doe$ m0$T eVErything! MAK n0n break model$ and water re$i$tant cellphone$
3:49 Can anyone tell me the name of the game please?
A small phone with good specs that runs android. Like the iPhone SE but with Android
Reason I still have an iPhone 7 is bc Verizon doesn’t do the upgrade thing every two years anymore (last I checked) so a new phone means pay full price period. So no thanks I’ll continue to use iPhone 7 and it it ever breaks eBay another iPhone 7 for probably 200 bucks
I have Sony Z1 for like 6 years!!
I still dont see any reason to upgrade!!
Seriously though if I upgrade my phone I will drown in gaming space and I lose my precious time!!!
It still works!
Good camera good battery life
Very good display
What it takes to change my phone?
No notch + waterproof + 48h battery life + a beast processor + nice price tag like 800 $ + update for another 6 years 😂😂😂
Blackberry q10 was the perfect smartphone for my needs. Same size like my hand, physical keyboard so i d, ont have to clean the screen all the time, and that, s it.
I d, ont use Facebook anymore, nor Instagram. I d, ont play videogames in a smartphone so ok… But no WhatsApp? Bye Bye.
I still mis my Q10…
I still use the iPhone 6s Plus. Got the battery replace last year, it runs perfectly fine. I plan on using it until it gets no longer supported by the latest iOS- planning on upgrading to a sub-$500 refurbished iPhone by the end of the year hoping the iPhone 7 Plus is gonna last me another 2–3 years, though.
Note number one- in intro there is AR Camera( effect with dinosaurus) but presented like its Iphone invention! Sony had it much longer- AR Camara started with Iphone X(2017) Sony has AR Camera since 2012!
It’s 2020, what would you say is the average lifespan of a smartphone given the current designs and specs? Do 2017, 2018, 2019 phones match up to recent smartphone models? Head-to-head can they last?
Thoes phones in thumbnail looked like small books
Computers can last 10 years now & smart phones are heading the same way
In the 90’s everyone was big on having the best spec computer but these days it’s mostly hard core gamers who focus on that these days. Mobile devices had a delayed equivalent of that.
GL
I am using a $110 smartphone, and it can do everything a teenager would want to do on a phone.
Coming back to this video, not every creator/influencer has the will required to speak about issues like this one. While everyone is out there echoing words of smartphone companies, it’s nice to have a reality check.
