Our smartphones are distracting and stressful, but they seem necessary. Michael Zelenko tests out four distraction-free phones, ranging from the palm-sized Jelly phone with internet capability to the business card-sized Light Phone that solely makes phone calls. Find out if one of these phones could fit your lifestyle, or if maps and social media apps are too important for you.

Would you give up your smartphone for a minimalist phone?
Nokia wins again.
Drug dealers use these, they’re called “burner phones”, they’re called this because usually after they are done with them they literally burn them to destroy any evidence.
Dude is making a minimalist phone review then complains that the phone can’t text or Snapchat. Just call them.
3:14 DUCK
I love the idea of a minimalist phone and being able to detox myself and I am looking for one such phone. But in no way I am going to let most of these companies scam me of a phone like that for 300 dollars. It is too much…They are just overcharging people because their product fills a niche market where there isn’t much competition.
So basically this guy realized he is a smartphone addict. Who needs texting anyway, it’s the worst form of communication. If I am going to carry on a real time conversation by typing I would rather do it on a computer with facebook messenger.
I got rid of my smartphone for a feature phone, something akin to the Nokia, and I am loving not having a smartphone. I feel bad for the people who are addicted to theirs.
I spent my teenage years with a basic phone, and I only got a smartphone when I was an adult. Honestly, I texted super, super fast on T9 and later on even faster on my slide-out qwerty keyboard. It can take a bit to get used to T9 but trust me, you can definitely text bomb with it. I’m getting the Nokia phone, solidly done with the constant demand for attention from my smartphone, let alone the toxicity and mental health decline I’ve experienced through using social media.
Couldn’t you hold the phone in the horizontal position to enlarge the keyboard?
Why blame phones for our addiction to social media when it’s just something we need to stop doing and obsessing over.
I switched from an smartphone to a dumbphone. Been a few weeks now. At first you’re like OMGICANTDOTHIS?!!?! You know like look up a place or search the web but now I’m like oh no I can’t do this.… ah well it’s ok. My kids ask for my phone so they can watch something and I tell them they can’t anymore. That they should just be bored. It’s nice being bored and just looking around you. Enjoying life.
Let me just say this
Whenever I hear people complaining about things like texting on a tg9 or messages that are not presented as a thread… I was there back in the 2000’s you know? Then that was the normal. If you needed your phone to do things, you had to be ingenious about it. My first phone that presented me with a qwerty keyboard was my best friend for years. I still enjoy a good physical keyboard thanks to that.
The light phone is a good idea for small children to contact family members
I want the same thing 😭
People Made the Big Huge Mistake 16 Years Ago by Adapting a Smartphone that Spys on them , Gave up all of their Privacy for a Mobile Computer
Liberty and a Private Life without carrying a Spy Device ! crypto Risks, an EMP or loss of electrical power, 2) a disruption of the internet, 3) a computer virus or cyber theft that we now think can’t happen, 4) a governmental ban on a certain cryptos in favor of required use of CBDCs, 5) a stock market-like crash in the crypto due to fears of 1 — 4 Your Paying to Have the NSA on you
I use an older 2G Phone without Apple or Google , No Texts , Camera or Apps , Just a Phone , I still use Checks and Cash Only , If everything is Digital we might as well be in Prison , Most People I know shop at Yard Sales , Goodwill and Dollar Stores , Church thrift Shops , We already have ways of Securing our Money for Travel . People want Freedom .Crypto is Risk
Now more indispensable than ever.
Then review a minimalist phone with excellent texting features, please.
I got my 3310 about a year ago now — best decision I ever made
Everybody gangsta

The nokia 3310 in my country costs $15
I want Nokia 2720 flip or 800 tough
I looking for a phone which has calling whatsapp and spotify only nothing else
The BLU Advance L5 is another great option; it costs $40, and with 512 MB of ram, it is good for basic functions such as calls, texts, and calculations. Keep in mind that it only works on 3G GSM networks.
me with cheap verizon phone i got for $10
I have got Nokia 216 feature phone it’s got front selfie camera with flash. It’s great phone cost £30. On eBay nearly new. Use my iPhone when at home on WiFi. Suits me.
This is a three year old video. THE PROBLEM WITH THESE PHONES IS… None are 5G capable. My carrier is now nudging me into 5G which I don’t want to have a thing to do with.
i just downgrade my smartphone to minimalist phone ‚i’m buying blackberry bold phone ..and only use it for calling & messaging ..I’m on my journey of smartphone detox ..and i feel great ‚like i feel myself again ..smartphones are made for people to addicted to it ..I hope so many people realize this ..The negative effects of smartphone’s..
Okay, I made this same choice though I went with a smarter feature phone in the Sonim XP5s. In your review you mention a couple of phones that have gotten significant updates. Those are the Lightphone and the Punkt. The Lightphone has a number of additional applications like maps that may make it better for you. The Punkt now has the MP02 which has 4G and improved texting to include their own app that interfaces with Signal. It might be worth looking into them if you decide to revisit this subject.
I have the Punkt MP02, just got it about 2 weeks ago, and I LOVE it. I had a smart phone for years, until I realized that all these screens just weren’t good for me. It makes me so much happier without my smart phone.
Finally a video I need. Thank you for this video.
125 dollars
We in India we use jio phone india ka smartphone
Jio phone gives 1999 rupess get a phone and 2 years recharge
The sad thing with these phones is no matter how you want to detox and spend time away from your smartphone, many feature phones connect to 2g/3g, which in many countries has already undergone sunset.
Only phones under 40$ are readable
Elon Musk said, “People are Cyborgs” referring to our addiction to smart phones. 😔
Rip blackberry 🙁
Just brought a keypad phone for myself, people at college will make fun of me but who cares
The review makes no sense the original phone (3310) models intent for this phone was it was designed for kids 14. & younger so they are not walking around with a microwave against their growing brains. The ad & article we have seen explains it meant for kids 14 & younger.
can i have the 3310 sir? 🙂
Watching this on my bendable phone and I love how phones are looking futuristic.. my phone did not exist when he uploaded this video lol
Jelly lol the phone that MS Kin was supposed to be after they demolish Danger sidekick phone lol
Please re-do a 2022 version of this. We need this.
Agreed with the last point. They need to work out how to do text / messages really well, as that’s not the overwhelming / addictive part of smart phones . .
Just make a smartphone with email, music, a web browser and kindle, that’s all people need. That’s what things were like before smartphones, we read and listened to music which isn’t completely distracting that it’s detrimental to our health.
Im very addicted and this is great idea
I just ordered a Nokia 3310, I look forward to it’s arrival.
