Something I forgot to add in the video that some may find useful. Multi-window. Now that the recent apps button is gone, how do you open multi-window? If you watch the video, on the overview screen, you can see icons at the top of the cards. Long press the icon and it gives you the option to open split screen. Sorry about that!
Android പൊറോട്ട!
It’ll be cooler if @TheJoeHindy makes it as one of the voices of Google Assistant. 🙂
Running the beta on my Pixel 2 XL and really enjoying the experience. I have had some glitches, but nothing earth shattering. Just some apps closing or misbehaving. Seems pretty intuitive, and looking forward to future betas.
I’m still running nougat. I appreciate being able to double tap the recents key to switch apps. Is that gone now? 🙁
Where’s the “clear all” button in the overview?
We need a clear all button in the overview mode
As always, great video Joseph. Thank You for bringing this in.
Android is getting ridiculous. Horizontal app view is ridiculous, we still have the software bar with only 2 buttons AND we have to use gestures.…
WTF
Trying to impress iOS fanboys while fooling around with Android fanboys haah, GOOGLE — by using a miracle word you say as Android “P”? Notifications from EMUI & horizontal recents and swipe up for recents form iOS! Not just a copy of iOS, in fact, along, a copy of EMUI that itself is also a copy of iOS? Come on!
May be Andy Rubin should stop running behind others to install his own development on his own “Essential” phone and develop something new for Android fanboys, that will showcase another Miracle!
Hindy strikes back! lol also ooh i need a new phone since i’m stuck on android L D: the essential phone is a choice with the nice $400 and the nuu mobile G3 $200 can’t beat it and maybe just maybe note 8 very unlikey but who knows
The nav is still there and taking the same space as the regular one. What’s the point of the iOS-ish nav then?
I felt the you-tube video somehow was super long on the ‘overview’ functionality than other Android P features. example: Maps recommendation, Google lens and Dashboard.
Thank you for the better DND.
Hope they keep the vertical recent apps as an option. I Don’t care for the horizontal scrolling and the lack of recent apps button
This just show how much WebOS was ahead of its time. I loved WebOs but they had to put that into a horrible “tiny little case”, with a plastic screen. Made it unusable.
Still using LG G3..
Those color changes in the settings look disgusting
I know this is a Beta version of Android P, but what I disappoint a lot is that why does Google call one of the features of Android P “gesture” while the back button and the navbar are still here and unhideable??? Why don’t Google gesturize the “back button”???
If they are trying to copy gestures from iPhone X (or Palm, Blackberry Playbook OS, and Meego on Nokia N9), they should copy it completely.
HOW DISAPPOINTING!!!!
i just update mine and its beautiful.. looks better than before
How will the pill work with a phone that has hardware navigation keys.
still on 5.1 andriod…
android is gay
wait… but wheres the close all button?
Why is Samsung users not getting this update to try as well??????
The new recent apps menu reminds me of windows phone
Do you have to toggle the Shush feature for when you turn your phone facing down on the table? How do I know if its activated?
Is there a still clear all button in the recent apps section?
Still waiting on Oreo or my V30
There’s a reason some of us don’t like or use IOS. What is the point of using Android when it’s becoming so much like crappy IOS?
Whoever designed this version should be fired, and recommended to Apple. It’s terrible‑y IOS like.
I think this version was designed by an iPhone user.
Damn shame that we’re talking about the newest Android version while most Android phones still haven’t received Oreo. Just wow.…
hope iphone x iphone 8get same feature
they removed app clear
We are all your source.….. Android. The statement is missing
A true in-depth review. Had everything I needed to know.
welcome to IOS 😂
They ruined the notification dropdown look, looks like samsung or lg now. I’m glad I still have my nexus 5x with 8.1.0
Android P.…Play Toy? Cause that’s what the UI looks like. Going too far backwards in design aesthetics for my taste. This will definitely be a time to actually want Samsung etc. to create a better looking UI.
Had the P beta running on my Pixel 2 XL for a week now. Not a fan of the new overview page as I much preferred swiping up and down through open apps and being able to swipe left or right to close apps. The new method seems a bit clunky.
I really don’t like the swipe up from home button gesture either. Much prefer one swipe upwards to open the app drawer and having a separate button for overview.
The new notifications are fantastic. Battery life seems to be even better than before (not that it was an issue as my Pixel 2 XL battery life is incredible)
The new volume control is a much needed addition especially having the media volume the default!
Im not gonna lie bois… Android Oreo looks better then Android P (Peppermint?)
Android P is to Facebook-ish… Blah 🙈🙉🙊
#MAGA Make Android Great Again.
P for Popcorn? 🍿🍿🍿
Aside from developer stuffs, basically all of these ‘new’ features can be found in google store..
